We're going to WDW in late September. My husband HATES the heat, so I bought those mister things (forget what they're called but most people here probably know what I'm referring to).

I recently found these, though:
http://industrialsavings.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=heat_stress

and this:
http://www.thermo-cool.com/On-Line Store.htm

I bought 12 of the bandannas from industrialsavings and they arrived within 3 or 4 days. And, they really work. It's 103 degrees here, and they do keep us cooler. My husband started wearing one (hahah) to work even though he works in an office and got a bit of ribbing for wearing one. He goes outside and walks on his breaks and he said it was very helpful.

The ones from Industrial Savings stay cool for 24-48 hours. The ones from thermo-cool state (I haven't tried these) that theirs stay cool for 2-3 hours and are also a lot more expensive.

Thanks for the tips! DW hates the heat. We already have the cooling neck things, but there a lot of other ideas here! I just noticed that you'll be in WDW 9/23-10/1... we're coming 9/22 - 10/1 with about 60 people for a wedding! Hope you have a great time!

Wow.......you will have to let me know how the cool bandana things work, I use the ones from Walmart which are the same price, but since you said these last for 23-48 hours I was quite impressed until I went to order 4 and the shipping was almost $9.00!! To me that is a bit much for 4 bandanas that probably could be stuffed in an envelope with 2 stamps on it. But if they are really as good as they say it maybe worth it, just would like some input first.

Misty Mates - We have a bunch of them but nobody wants to lug them around anymore. Perhaps we'll have to give the bandanas a try.

 Hi fellow NE Ohioan! I was afraid this would happen too so I bought these little ones:

They seem to last forever but I will know for sure on our trip in 2 weeks!!! I could kick myself that the first time I saw them, they were 2 for $30. I bought them at $20 each and now they are $22 each! Must be BIG sellers! I did see that there are some now on eBay cheaper also but I didn't want to take the chance on waiting.

Looking forward to hearing more great tips!!!

Hi right back atcha. I used to try to keep track of all the NE Ohio DISers, but gave up. Believe it or not, there are quite a few of us and we have been known to get together occasionally to swap Disney stories.

I saw someone with one of those little coolers that you described. They look like they would work quite well. The only advantage to the Misty Mate is that they do not require batteries.

One other item I like to use to keep cool is one of those $7 battery powered fans on a lanyard that they sell at WDW. I have tons of rechargeable AA batteries and I just replace them every night when I get back to my room. It's amazing how just a tiny breeze can make such a difference on a "warm" summer day in Florida.

I thought I saw two packs of these sold with 4 of the neck coolers on the QVC website the other day. I'd provide a link, but don't remember what they were called. But they were either $18 or $22 total for all six pieces.

Where in Ohio do you live? I am near Canton.

Actually, these little misters are Misty Mates and do not need batteries. They just pump up like the bigger ones. Hopefully, they will be handy in the parks!

:wave2: Nice meeting you! I'll have to keep an eye out for a NE Ohio gathering!

Cool! I just swiped a washcloth from the resort and kept soaking it in the water fountains.

Drink plenty of water and leave the sodas alone.

Take plenty of breaks and remember to enjoy yourself.

Canton isn't too far away. We live in Northern Summit County about halfway between Cleveland and Akron. Sounds like we need to plan a meet sometime this summer. Or perhaps a visit to the Yankee Peddler Festival in September? Someone needs to pick a date, time, and place.
