I am thinking about looking into renting points for my June trip. I calculated that I needed 205 points for a two week stay. How are the studios at OKW? How is transportation. I really could use some information. Thanks everyone! Oh yeah, I could also use someone who is interested in renting their points, but I can post that on the next board.;)

OKW is great, the atmosphere is so relaxing, and the people there are very friendly. We think that OWK is the most value for your points (the rooms are a bit larger and it is less points per night than the other DVC resorts). If you are going to be renting points and have never tried OKW before I'd say go for it!

If you don't plan on spending too much time in your room the studios are fine for two people. The bus service is bad. It has always been that way but one thought on the bus service is that appears to be getting worse at every resort. It took me 45 minutes from my start of waiting for a bus at AK to finally entering OKW. That event by auto would have been about 5 to 10 minutes max. OKW is an out of the way place if you don't have a car to get around I would think twice about staying there.

I stayed at OKW twice last year and found the bus service prompt and the drivers more than courteous. I'm vacationing there again in Feb.

I have stayed at OKW 3 times now and the bus service is fine other than to the Animal Kingdom. It is farther away than the other places, but it also takes longer from the other resorts. I love the rooms there. You can park right by your room also.

We stayed in a studio in OCtober and used the busses to the parks and thought it was fine. The inner resort stops make it a bit longer than other resorts, but it was still fine. The beds (mattresses) at OKW are much more comfortable than the other villas probably because they just changed them. I stayed at VWL studio in December and the queen bed there wasn't half as comfortable. The bathroom at OKW is roomier as well. (and they give you an 8 cup coffee maker instead of the dinky 4 cup at VWL) We stayed in the Turtle Pond areas and liked the smaller pool there. We only went to the main pool once. It was a very enjoyable trip.

We have 2 separate contracts with OKW as our home resort, so we like it there very much!

The studios are a good size, and the little kitchenette is nice. I have never had a problem with the bus service there. However, I am not real time-conscious when I am on vacation. I figure I have to be time-conscious the rest of the year, so when I am at WDW, I forget about time completely!

I second third, or whatever that... We stayed at OKW twice in the last six months including Labor Day weekend and the bus service was fine. On our Dec trip there was a CM with a clipboard and watch standing at the main stop at check-in writing down what bus was there at what time. Stay there...

I have stayed at OKW 3 times now since we have had our points (actually 4 times if you want to be critical because the last trip was a split stay). We actually really do like OKW. The bus service is fine - in fact I think it's great. If you need to go to another resort - I would recommend going to Downtown Disney to make the change. That's what I do all the time and it works fine. I have noticed that other resorts, except the All Stars, seem to wait longer for busses than the OKW bus people.

Oh, I forgot to mention - we are a family of 3 and the studio has plenty of room for us.

OKW 1BR and 2BR are much larger than similar rooms at the other resorts, but the size of the studios is essentially the same at ALL WDW DVC resorts. The OKW studios have two queen beds, the others have a queen and a full sized sofa with a pull out bed if needed...We found the BWV studio "felt" larger than the OKW to us. The points for an OKW studio are the least amount of points, if you could get BWV standard view it will be similar.

Just got back on Sunday!! We Loved it and want to go back!! The bus service was good and everyone was friendly! I really feel we got a great deal and I hope I can do the same next year! WE have stayed at All of the all-stars and some of the moderated and this was perfect for my family of 4. There were 16 of us all together and we all got Studios for our families and we were fine. Loved the Kitchenette saved lots of time and money!! Anyone with points for next year please e-mail me I am interested in doing this again.

Thanks, Disney Dianne

This makes me laugh! It's the same thing they say on the Resorts board for larger families, "A moderate is fine for 5, if you aren't going to be in the room much." :) DVCer's are very fortunate and I think you sometimes forget what the rest of us suffer through. :teeth:

With just 2 + 1 in a crib we prefer the queen + sofa bed combo, so I'd also say check out BWI standard view. The BW area is a lot of fun!

I don't stay in regular rooms. They are too small. I only stay in suites when I am at any resort. I am glad it makes you laugh. I wouldn't laugh if I had to stay in a regular room at a resort . If you are young and just starting out and don't have the money for a larger room then make do. They are really small however if you plan on staying in them for any length of time.

I agree that OKW studios are great except a stay that long might get hard without a sofa or comfy chair. Don't worry about the bus! It has been great the last couple of years. If you are planning for THIS June, you need to get cracking soon!! Studios fill up fast during the crowded summer months.
