Studio Cookin'

We usually do cold cereal, oatmeal in the microwave or toasted bagels with cream cheese for quick breakfasts. With the toaster you could get a box of waffles or something tho too. We don't really "cook" in our studio but here's a few easy ideas...

We love toasted bread sandwiches....so with the toaster you can do tuna salad, tuna melts, chicken salad, scrambled egg sandwiches (we add some ham & swiss to ours), and BLT's (use that precooked bacon in the microwave).

Other ideas - bagel sandwiches, pizza bagels (you can find them frozen even and microwave them), individual size microwave frozen pizzas (the freezer is SMALL but can hold a couple of small items).

Nachos (After you melt the cheese on the chips I sometimes add some thinly sliced/chopped ham, tomato, onion, salsa, lettuce & sour cream for sort of a taco salad - you can find most of these things on a grocery store salad bar)

Chicken caesar salad (get a bag salad kit that comes with the dressing & add some of those Perdue chix. strips)

Wrap sandwiches made with any of the above

I have brought a crockpot along in my carryon on SWA. Now that we have an Owner's Locker I have it stocked with a George Foreman grill, and picked up a small crockpot at Walmart for $4 in the Black Friday sales last Thanksgiving.

There are any number of very good microwavable meals by Bird's Eye, Bertolli, and now TGIF is getting into the market too. These generally serve 2 people, and are quite tasty with offerings from Chicken or Shrimp Alfredo to Chicken Parmesan, or even Teriyaki Beef with Rice.

Lots of people pick up a roasted chicken from a local supermarket (I like Publix), and then use it for a few meals as salad or fajitas, etc.

There is an excellent recipe thread on the Camping Boards here at the Dis. It's a sticky at the top of the board.

We'll have a car for our upcoming trip, and usually rent one for a day if we fly to go on a grocery run to the Walmart supercenter. We always get sub fixins for our studio stays (not much room in the freezer for frozen foods), cans of soup, bread for toast in the mornings with cereal, anything microwaveable I can find in a box.
Also, since we're staying at SSR, it's a quick walk to DTD so we always get a meal at Wolfgang Puck Express at least once (you get 10% off with DVC membership or AP), and we can usually get a huge meal for around $10-12 each, then take it back to our room to eat - always have enough left over for lunch the next day, especially if you get a half chicken, a pasta dish or a pizza.
There are lots of cheap eats in WDW as well - check out allears.net in the dining section - lists menus with prices so you can plan ahead. Our favourite and filling cheap eats are the ham & swiss croissants at Epcot in France at the Boulangerie - they warm them for you and they're $3 each. :cloud9:

Speaking of DTD The Earl of Sandwich I am told is inexpensive and tasty.
If I am not mistaken, you can get a sandwich for $4.

Not sure on the exact price but it seemed very reasonable at the time. They have a wide variety and were very good. My parents typically go every trip and DW & I tried them last trip and would ABSOLUTELY go back.
