We are hoping to go to WDW in November 2010. We haven't yet decided whether to rent points or bite the bullet and buy for BWV resale (I am also considering BLT lol). Anyway, whatever we do we need to choose a room size.

We are a family of 4. There is me, DH, DS (will be 4yrs old) and DD (will be 3 yrs old). We often wake up with the kids in our bed. However, they are quite spirited and I'm not sure if a studio will be space enough. I love the idea of the jacuzzi bath as well, but then is it worth the extra points. We are hoping for a view of the Boardwalk itself.

Which would be better suited to our family and why?

If you can swing it...I'd go with the 1 bedroom.

It gives you the jacuzzi tub, small kitchen, and the wonderful washer/dryer.

You can also have Mommy/Daddy space.

However, you will do just fine in a studio.

I would probably not go for a 2 bedroom with small kids. The 2nd bedroom is on the other side of the living room and would probably make you feel too isolated from the kids.

That is great for your 14 and 13 year olds, but not your 4 and 3 year olds. If buying...you have enough time to add on before you want or need that 2nd bedroom.

We stayed in a studio for a portion of our Dec. trip w/ our two kids (1 and 3) and although it wasn't a complete disaster, we would not do it again. It is too hard putting the kids down and then not having anywhere to relax until we are ready to go to bed. It is also really nice to have the washer/dryer and larger kitchen. I think the 1BR would be well worth the extra $.

We have a family of 5 and just booked our 1st DVC trip for Jan. We opted for the 2 BR Villa. Though we really don't need it I figured it was our 1st trip why not go big. In the past we have stayed at the POP & CBR all of us in one room. It was a bit crowded, but managable.

This is going to be our 4th trip to WDW and we are planning on spending more time at the resort this time. Have pretty much seen and done everything, so this time we are going to slow things down and sleep in and relax.

My kids are older which is why I really like having the space in at least a 1br & sometimes a 2. It allows my DS & DD to sleep in & not be disturbed when DH & I get up & have coffee in the morning or stay up later to watch TV. We also do a little shopping & eat breakfast & snacks in the room so it's great having a full kitchen & the laundry really comes in handy for bathing suits & clothes (means you can pack light). However, we just decided to do a second trip this year & go for NYE & since we'll be there less than a week, we are just getting a studio & not bothering with shopping. So I guess for shorter trips we are fine in a studio, but otherwise I really need my 1BR!

The one bedroom villas truly heavenly. They honestly feel like you are in your own apartment and they are filled with such wonderful luxuries that you don't expect on vacation: full kitchen, washer/dryer, master bedroom and bathroom (complete with juccuzi tub), etc., etc., etc. :cloud9:

That said, we personally will probably only book the one bedrooms when we really, really want to spoil ourselves. However, we only have 1 child so it's a bit easier for her in that she has her own bed and her own space in a studio, whereas those with two children might be cramped in a studio. I'd say, if you have enough points to swing a one bedroom, definitely go for it. :goodvibes

Thank you for the advice so far. I guess the 1 bedroom would be useful (we are travelling from the UK) because of the washer/dryer etc. However, they are double the points of the studio. Hmmm, need to think about this some more!!

If you do a 1 BR at BLT you will have a second full bath and a sleeper chair.

So far we have done a studio only for DW and me on a kidless trip. We have done a one bedroom when it was just us and my DD and a two bedroom we added DS and his fiance. That is probably how we'll handle trips from here on out.

When your kids are older you may want to go up to a two bedroom, under your current situation I think the one bedroom would be your best bet.

I agree with pp that if money is not a problem, go with the 1 bdrm. It give you more than double the space of a studio (at least it feels this way) with doors to close for privacy, a kitchen, washer/dryer, a tub big enough for the kids to swim in. And if you decide later that a studio works, well you have enough points to take a much longer vacation or to take more vacations during the year. But my guess is you will want more points as they get older so you can have a 2 bdrm

We have two children dd-8, ds-13mos. We opted for a two bedroom for the following reasons:
We liked the idea of being able to bring additional people if we want to.
although it's not a huge inconvenience, you have to fold up and unfold the sofa bed every night.
extra bathroom. AKLV kidani have three bathrooms.
Also in my short time as a member and spending alot of time on the boards, it seems like the studios book up the fastest, followed by 1 then 2 bedrooms. I'm not sure if there is true or not.
I hope this helps.

Depending on how long you are going for, you might want to do a split stay. Start out in a studio then move to a 1 bedroom after a few nights. This would let you experience both the studio and l bedroom so you could see the differences and decide which works the best for your family.

Christa - You are going to LOVE the 2BR. You'll never be able to go back to one room! Hmmm...we'll maybe that's a bad thing :goodvibes Enjoy!
