Just my 4-year old, six year old and I. Trying to get to Chicago.

MY DS changed his flight today-it was 3 hours late and he would have missed his connection
Hope tomorrow is better for him!

Sorry to hear you are stuck. But now I can't get that song "Meet me in St. Louis, Louis, meet me at the fair" out of my mind now.

I am midway between chicago and st louis. the FOG is terrible....
I am not surprised you are stuck.

I hope you get out soon.

Can I reccomend a movie...? While you wait.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Heheheheheee

Mikeeee

No planes tomorrow. Waiting for a rental car so I can drive to my mothers.

Uhmmmmm, given the weather forecast for tomorrow, you want to make that rental car a "rental boat".......OTH, it could be more snow and ice. Guess I will take the rain!

DD20 got stuck on Tuesday. DH and DD17 drove up to Chicago to get her after she finally got in there instead of Central IL......normally a 2.5 hour drive took 4.5 hours EACH way because of ice and snow. I am beginning to wonder what major sin the Midwest committed to get all this awful weather....or maybe we are just getting it out of the way and the rest of winter will be nice.......okay, the sin story is more plausible!

Good luck and drive safely!

I hope you make it to Chicago. Hang in there. I can only imagine how difficult it must be being stuck alone, let alone with a four and six-year-old.

My daughter is patiently waiting in Charlotte right now. She was supposed to get back into Columbus (Ohio) an hour ago. Barring any more delays, I'll be picking her up at the airport around 2:30 in the morning. Ugh!

Well, at least it's not 10 degrees like it was at the beginning of the week! ;)

Sorry you're stuck. This weather's bizarre. Well, it would be bizarre for anywhere else, rather. For St. Louis, this is kinda par for the course.

Sorry to hear you are stuck. But now I can't get that song "Meet me in St. Louis, Louis, meet me at the fair" out of my mind now.
Ditto. That really sucks, though.

Good luck on your drive.

Finally in car and 70 is a parking lot. ARGH!!!

Well in case anyone is still following this saga, I made it to Lichtensomething Illinois. The kids are sleeping and I am winding down from the caffine/adrennaline high.

70 ended up being closed, so I got dumped into some neighborhood in St. Louis...I thought of all of you in my little toy car (Ford Focus) trying to figure out what to do next...so my husband guided me out from home.

Well, off to try to sleep in my slightly damp, smelly, dirty sheeted (yes, actual dirt in the sheets)noisy room.

Special thanks to Blackberry for letting me share this little adventure with you all.

Tomorrow I will start again on the quest to get to Grandma's house.

I can understand the trouble. Over here in Seattle we're still digging out from a big once-a-decade snowstorm that's keep the roads a mess for nearly two weeks now and dumped nearly two feet of snow on the lowlands (most years, we barely make six inches of snow in an entire winter here.) I'm fortunate to have avoided the mess, but there were thousands of people who got stranded at SeaTac for three days due to all this snow basically grounding everything.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

Hope today is better for you. It took my dad 36 hours to get home right before Christmas. My mom is supposed to fly in today with a connection in Chicago. I wonder how late she will get in? I hope if she can't make it, she stays longer with my sister.

Those trying to get to Chicago as a final destination should try and fly into South Bend Indiana and take the South Shore Commuter train into Chicago. It terminates at Randolph and Michigan. It is a two hour train ride but very inexpensive.
