We are trying to plan a trip this summer after receiving a free dining code for March-June:worship:

The problem is that we will fly to FL but the discount carrier we use only flys into Sanford. For the price difference ($120 round trip per person:thumbsup2) Compared to Southwest ($120 each way:scared1:) it doesn't make sense not to fly Allegiant. My question concerns how to move 7 people (5 adults and 2 children) from Sanford to POP for a reasonable amount of $$. I think renting a car is a waste of $$ because it would literally just sit at the resort all week.
Any ideas?

The people on the transportation board really know their stuff. I bet you would get a quick answer if you posted this question there. Good luck!

You could always rent a car for the day of arrival and again on your departure day instead of getting it for a week. There are shuttle services you could get but they will cost you more than a rental car. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Alamo has car rental places on disney property. In theory you could rent the car for the day from Sanford drive to the hotel (stop and pick up some groceries) and turn the car in near the MK. I am sure they would shuttle you either back to the hotel or to a nearby point of disney transportation. We have planned to do this many times..........here is the crux of the problem. Each time we plan to rent two cars for one day, I find a weekly rate for the same amount or less.

In November we rented a minivan for 5 days for less than $100 including taxes. At that price compared to the daily rate, there is no savings. Instead we pretty much just let the car sit in the parking lot, use it for early/late hotel dining reservations and will occassionally use it to drive to the parks, just not the MK. I figured the money we saved by having access to the grocery store or target saved us the cost of the rental.

I find my rental codes on the Mousesavers site, and I aggressively check for less expensive options.

We did this last summer but it was only two of us the cheapest way was to rent a car and then you can return it in WDW. Maybe because there are more of you it might be cheaper to hire a limo or some sort of transportation.

Oh man...I love Sanford..... just rent a vehicle and either keep it for the week,or return on property somewhere.....but then you'd have to re-rent for the ride back, so it might be easier to just keep it parked.....

There is a rental place in the Dolphin hotel also. We have rented a car and then returned it to the Dolphin. We just took the Disney bus back to our hotel (via Downtown Disney).
