Our decision for a quick trip (thanks to free dining ;) ) has left us POP-less!! We're so used to staying at POP for our quick trips that we don't know anything else! Because we waited so long to make ressies, we're stuck with either Sports or Music... which one would you pick and why? Help!!! TIA

Ditto! Same thing happening to us. I should have booked the other day- POP was coming up! But isn't now...that's what I get for proscratinating. I should have booked it- I could have cancelled if I changed my mind before 7/3 which I would have booked anyway! *sigh*

We chose sports. I have stayed at ASMu before and it's no better or worse than Sports.. I just didn't think the kids would get a kick out of the theming there as they have at Movies and Sports plus Sports seems to always get picked up and dropped off first. Atleast that was my experience on all my trips to ASSP, ASmu and recently ASMo. Saving time getting on/off buses is one of the reasons I wanted to stay at Pop- they get their own bus and I NEVER saw anyone waiting in line (for Pop Century bus) at the parks or DTD while we waited to be able to finally fit on a bus with the All Star resorts (when we stayed at ASmo recently). But I also just wanted to stay there atleast once. *sigh*

Who are you travelling with? I've travelled solo at ASMu and I think it's a nice place for solo or adults- it seems to be quieter and the buses seem to be faster (and emptier when they arrive) at that resort than compared to ASMo... quieter/less kids than ASSp also.

It's just me and my DBf so maybe we should consider ASMu?? I never really thought about the fact that people with kids would probably choose Sports or Movies before Music.. I never really mind the little ones running around (it adds to the Disney atmosphere, imo), although quiet time after a long day in the parks is always a plus ::yes:: ...Any one else with a "quiet" experience at ASMu???

And are the busses really that bad? I've never stayed at an All-Star before, (I've contemplated ASMo during past planning sessions, just for a change in scenery from our usual Pop Icons, but even that is booked, which would have been my second choice!! GRR!! :headache: ) So I really don't know what to expect! I guess I could always shorten my trip by a few days and stay at a mod... But there's that gosh darn quality vs. quantity debate again (during which quantity always seems to win)! lol :worried:

I guess I should be happy to be going to WDW at all (which I am) but I wish I could make these decisions without such a headache! Anyway, thanks for all the input!!! :wizard:

Stayed last April at ASMu and enjoyed the quietness compared to ASSpports.

Another vote for ASMu!! Stayed at both and prefer ASMu - liked the themeing, especially in Broadway section alot better (thought it was romantic) and the fact it did seem quieter than ASSp.

I didn't find much difference in busses. During busy times each AS has it's own busses going to the parks, coming home ASMu is the second stop, but it really isn't that much longer a ride.

HTH!!! :teeth:

Okay - we're going with KIDS so, would you say Sports then?? We stayed at Music 6 years ago and 2 pregnancies have robbed my long-term memory brain cells (only half kidding). I remember that it was just "okay", my stepdaughter who was 7 at the time says it was boring... I just booked sports last night and requested "surfs up" bldg, only because it looks like it's in a decent location and sound like a "cool area dude!"

Anyone verifiy that?

Sure ASSp is fine too, especially since most kids prefer the sports themeing over music.

All the AS resorts are basically the same - room styles & sizes, pools, food courts, etc. The only DIFFERENCE is themeing so it's just a matter of each persons preference - go for it!!!

Is there that much of a difference? I've stayed only at ASMu (and enjoyed it) but I can't picture being upset staying at one of the other AS's.

The only thing that seemed to make a difference when I stayed there was that the bus stopped at ASMu last. It would mean a slightly shorter trip to the parks, but less of a chance of getting a seat.

No, the only differences between the AS resorts are themeing and layout of the resort - everything else is pretty much the same. I don't think the OP is upset, just trying to get a feel for each resort.

USUALLY the bus stop order is ASSp, ASMu then ASMo when going to more than 1 of the AS resorts. Sometimes that's different depending on time of day, # of passengers, etc.

Hit the nail on the head. I'm not upset at all!! Actually it's sort of nice to be forced to try something new :p . I can see how the AS's are pretty much the same except for the theme, I was just looking for other's opinions ON the theme (and maybe for extra little "tips" like ASMu might be quieter etc.).. thanks to all who shared!! :wizard:

Personally I can't say there's a HUGE difference between ASMu. I just think that if I had to choose between the two... if it was just me or just adults I'd probably choose ASMu because I liked it there when I've stayed there solo, and with MY kids I'd choose ASSP or ASMO (if that choice was available)... but ASMu would probably be fine with me also even with the kids. For us there really isn't a huge difference because my kids don't get all THAT into the huge icons at the resort anyway- all they are interested in doing at the resort is swimming in the pool (and necessary things like sleeping in the room) LOL

I would think that most with kids would PROBABLY pick those two also- so if you are going alone or with only adults you'd have the BEST chance of less kids/groups/noise at ASMu... maybe. No definate on that though. LOL

We've stayed at all 3- and I'd have to say the bus situation was the worst with ASMo. Not only because it's last to be picked up, last to be dropped off but I swear every room there must be filled with atleast 2-3 (if younger than 3yrs old ofcourse LOL) children... the lines are always long no matter what time of day or night it is.

This time we wanted to stay atleast once at POP also-but couldn't book it (wahhhhhhhhhh) -so we're going with ASSP. I'm going with kids... and ASMo would not be my choice again. I'd rather be first on/first off. When we stayed at ASSP- we never had a problem getting on a bus (at the resort to go to parks or DTD) with room to sit.. it's ASMo that ends up all standing or waiting for the next bus, or the next bus, or the next bus (and so on) to finally find one to sit on instead of standing (which we did often- since I wasn't about to have my youngest standing on the bus-- nothing for her to hold on to! She'd be flopping all over the place and just hanging on to me! I'm short too... it's hard for me to hold on while standing depending on what spot I have to stand in! LOL)

Oh and btw- our last trip was at ASMo and we were there for 10 days. ONLY ONCE did we see a bus that was specific for ASMo (and were in shock- they are usually for all 3 All Star resorts- this was at MK btw) ... and the bus wasn't full so the driver got out and started taking people from the line for music to try to fill up the bus. Then he waited longer for people to come up to the sports queue and put them on the bus also! He did that until the bus was completely full- and we ended up having to stop at sports and music too. So don't plan on EVER getting a bus just for your specific all star resort... even if it happens if you don't have a packed bus they'll fill it up with other all star resort guests anyway. LOL

I hadn't meant I thought you were upset, I was just saying it as a term. Sorry if it came over otherwise.

Aww.. your comment was fine. Just making sure that I didn't come off like I was upset with the AS's. :lovestruc Although I am a little confused about the bussing situation. These are some pretty MASSIVE resorts as far as I can tell. You'd think that they would figure out a better way to transport people to and from them. :confused3 Oh well. Guess we'll see in October! (I think I'm leaning toward ASMu btw... DBf was a music major in college, so I figure he might enjoy the theming there.) Anyone else with an opinion???

Yeah, they are big resorts, but the bus system seems to work well all things considered.

Personally, I like the theming of Music better than Sports. I guess it's because I'm not really a big sports fan (except for Carolina basketball, of course!). We stayed at Music 10 years ago when my DDs were small. I thought about spending our first night of our December trip there, just for old times sake! Other than the theming, I think they are all pretty much the same. Have fun!

Least you had a choice. I booked my trip over a month ago and had no choice but All star music! :)

I just returned from my first trip to DW in 15 years, and the family stayed in Music. When booking a few months ago, Music was my only option, but I new feel very fortunate that it worked out like that. The bus pick-up and drop off was in the middle, so we did not have to wait as long to get to the park as Sports did. Plus, by the time the buses got to Movies, they were usually full. Also, it seemed like our lines were much shorter than the other two. DS is 6 years old and loved everything -- especially the pool and arcade. DH is a picky eater and could find lots to eat at the food court.
