Struggling w/DDP or not

I've never done the DDP and struggling on deciding whether or not to give it a try. The DDP will probably cost us more than OOP given our normal eating and ordering habits. Our normal ordering habits though are with some exception predicated on prices. We tend to order something that we think we'll enjoy and remain affordably priced. If a menu has entrees ranging from say $10-$27 we'd probably stay with the $15 range. If we stayed within these normal guidelines we'd be cheaper paying OOP. We normally have an in room snack bfast, a TS lunch and either CS dinner or in room sandwich.

So know let's look at how we could things on the DDP. We could order whatever we want on the menu for the most part w/out price being a factor. We also will have a dessert for each of us with every meal. We will have a CS meal available for every day as well as a snack credit. Something I haven't considered until now is that we wouldn't have to take nearly as much food with us since so many meals and snack credits are available.

One other factor that has me leaning towards the DDP is that my son is taking his girlfriend(likely my future DIL but not officially) with us. She will have just graduated from college is this is my gift to her. I'm footing the whole bill for the trip including food and tickets. I don't won't her looking at the menu and feeling like she has to order the cheapest thing because I'm paying.

So what do you think given the above circumstances? Do I pay more and eat more extravagantly than normal or stick with conservative ordering pay OOP? BTW paying the extra isn't going to put me in the poor house, just means that the trip will cost me abit more than normal..

If you are going for a shorter trip, then you'll probably feel pretty comfortable expanding your eating habits for a few days.

We did the DDP in April for a 4 day 3/night trip. DH and I had little to no problem with eating 'so much' on the DDP. By the last day we were like "it's time to eat again?" but it wasn't bad.

We did the DDP in October 2007 for a 14/day 13/night trip. By the end of the first week we were completely sick of Disney food and couldn't force ourselves to eat to pay for the plan anymore. We felt like we 'had' to eat because it was prepaid, and went to quite a few TS's that we would have substituted with CS if we weren't prepaid.

With all of that being said - for a shorter vacation and if you don't mind leaving some money on the table, then I'd say the DDP will work well for you and your group.
