We're planning our 3rd trip to the park this year, and were hoping to get away with only 1 umbrella stroller like we did last year. Problem is we're both really tall and it's really uncomfortable for us to push a standard umbrella stroller.

I've seen extension handles, has anyone else ever used these?

Google search - "J. Mason Stroller Handlebar" and you'll see what I mean.

Granted DD is going to be 5 on this trip, but as most parents agree - it's a must have.

Any other suggestions?

I have never used the extenders but the Maclaren strollers are taller then a typical umbrella stroller...of course they cost more too:(

Buy a Maclaren Volo stroller. They are an umbrella stroller with a 55lb weight limit. I just bought one here: http://cgi.ebay.com/Maclaren-Volo-C...in_0?hash=item3ca4fc84f2&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14
This seller on Ebay apparently is reputable. Several people over on the Budget Board where I found out about this deal said they had dealt with them before. I ordered mine on Weds night and they emailed me my UPS tracking info on Thursday morning. The strollers say they are stained, and they all have identical stains. Apparently it was a defect during manufacturing that caused it. They are brand new in the box otherwise. I don't mind some red spots on my stroller, with the stroller only costing $55 including shipping! Normally these run about $100-125 if bought new. You may want to hurry though, it says on the auction there are 6 left. When I bought mine it said there were more than 10. :wizard:

I'd suggest a Maclaren stroller, too.

I'm not that tall, but apparently, I'm strangely proportioned such that the umbrella strollers hurt to use. Once I got our Maclaren, I had no more problems. A friend of mine is 6'2" and says the same.

Based on your signature it looks like your kiddos are older (meaning not infant or young toddler) - so the volo would be great! We love ours - both of them actually. The seat is great for older kids (lots of room!) and it is so really nice (and comfier for mom and dad!) to push and turn than some cheaper options, especially with the heavier weight of older kids. I love tall handled strollers and the volo is great for an umbrella stroller. The ebay listing that the previous poster suggested is a great deal. I grabbed one too! The good thing about the maclaren is that they hold their value. You could probably list the stroller on craigslist or ebay for close to what you paid for it when you are finished with it.

Seeing that I'm in Canada, and won't use the stroller again, along with the fact that shipping would be an issue... I think we'll stick to an ol'cheapo umbrella stroller and buy just the handles.

We have the Maclaren Techno for that exact reason. DH is tall and needed the extended handles. It also has larger wheels, making it a little higer as well. It also reclines more and rides a tiny better. Well worth the money! We bought it just for our Disney trips and have a Quest at home. You might be able to find an '08 model for cheaper then the new ones.

DH and I can relate. He's 6'3 and I'm 5'11. We always struggled pushing an umbrella stroller until we bought a Maclaren Volo, as others have mentioned. I bought mine at TJ Maxx for around $70 but other have bought on ebay for $55 and been very happy with their purchase.

The Volo is a great stroller. It's lightweight, easy to fold, and there is a shoulder strap to carry it when not using it. It folds down to almost nothing. The only bad thing is that the stroller basket isn't very big. Compared to not having a basket, though, it is really nice. It corners on a dime. Well, maybe not exactly but it is so easy to push and turn that I use it instead of our big stroller all the time.

I have to say that I wish I had bought the Volo years ago, instead of last fall.
