Strollers for preschoolers?

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good stroller for a preschooler that maybe I could buy used? Or maybe I could get an umbrella stroller just to walk from the hotel to the park and then rent one? What do you think? If I did bring a umbrella stoller just to use to walk to the park is there anywhere I could park it till the end of the day?

I LOVE my Maclaren Volo. It steers well and it folds up like an umbrella. It also has a carrying strap where you can sling it over your shoulder (folded, of course). I got it because of those things and the high weight limit (55 or 65 lbs). My DD4 (almost 5 and leggy) rides in it comfortably. Again, I say I was crazy for not bringing it. What was I thinking?! (Oh yeah, I was thinking about all the other junk I was already bringing!)

I have been trying to decided what to do about the stroller situation also. My youngest is almost 4 but I know there is no way he is going to make it without a stroller. He does not use a stroller at home, but Disneyland is much more walking and longer days then he is used to. We dont have a stroller that will fit him anymore so I was thinking we would just rent a stroller. But now I am starting to worry about the walk back to the hotel. We are staying at the Fairfield and after all day in the parks we will probably be caring him all the way! Its alot per day to rent and we will be there for 5 days so maybe we should buy a good stroller instead of renting. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good stroller for a preschooler that maybe I could buy used? Maclaren Volo! I found mine on clearance at Target a few years ago. Still in perfect condition. Love, love love this stroller. I'd even have paid full price for it.

Mac Volo was my 1st choice, but I got a Britax Blink for much less, and it also has a 55 lb weight limit (same as the volo), and it folds like a dream... I love it!!!

Wow thanks. I just did a search on the Mac Volo stroller and I think I am going to buy one for our trip. If we rent a stroller for 5 days its going to cost like $75 so I think it would be much better to get something that we could keep and use for our next Disney trip also. Thank you so much! I thought only jogging stroller went up to higher weight limits. You guys have been such a big help!!!!

We have numerous strollers for any and all occasions, and one in particular that I bought specifically for amusement parks (to ease my mind since I was worried about my expensive strollers disappearing while unattended in the parks) and it only cost $50 at Kmart. You may be able to find something to suit your needs on Craig's List for even cheaper.

I have a 18 month old and a 6 year old...We brought our sit and stand last time and it was a life saver. Little legs get so tired by the end of the day and when the park gets super crowded in the evenings, it's nice to have the stroller. My 6YO gets distracted easy so when rushing to dinner or away from the parade crowd, it wouldn't have been hard to loose him in all the pandemonium! Hope you have a fantastic time!

I would HIGHLY reccommend bringing a stroller for your 4 y/o!!! Before we went on our last trip with my 4 y/o I was also debating about bringing a stroller for her since she's more into walking than riding in a stroller. But I'm so glad I decided to buy a stroller to bring with me. I bought a durable Keekaroo stroller that I believe can hold up to 65 lbs. Amazing stroller! Anyways, i'm glad I brought the stoller for the following reasons:
1. I didn't have to worry about DD getting lost in the crowds cause she was always in the stoller.
2. It allowed us to stay in the parks late while DD fell asleep in the stroller.
3. We wouldn't have to carry our 4 y/o back to the hotel (2 blocks away from the park) after leaving the park at night if she fell asleep.
4. Loved how we could pack the basket with drinks and snacks for the day instead of carrying on us.

I was patting myself on the back for buying a durable stroller for my 4 y/o DD!!

Definitley yes. We did a 3 day trip with 4 kids, one of them a 5 yr old and his dad had to carry him around all day the first day, we got a stroller the next 2 days after that. It can be very tiring if the child gets tired and grumpy and wants to be held.

I would suggest bringing a stroller for the 4 year old. This last trip (July) was our very first time without a stroller (after 14 years of having to bring strollers into the parks - we have 4 kids). My youngest was 5 during this last trip, and he walked, and walked, and walked! He was SUCH a little trooper, and never complained about being tired. However, this was pretty much the scene every single night, literally within 30 seconds of getting back to the hotel room....

Thanks again everyone. My DH was still a VERY hard sell on the second stroller, he still thinks it's unnecessary. I told him to read this thread. He hates reading things like that, so he just said Nevermind, go buy the second stroller then! LOL So we are good to go, 2 strollers in hand!

If anyone's curious, we bought 2 of the First Years Ignite 50 stroller (essentially a deluxe umbrella). Have read many very good reviews of it, and it's very well priced, so we're happy with our choice!

In nearly 20 years of parenting, this was the FIRST time I'd ever seen a kid fall asleep while standing up. DH and I couldn't believe our eyes. Throughout 5 days at the parks, my little trooper never complained even once about being tired...never asked to be carried, or anything. He was so happy to be in his favorite place, I don't think he even acknowledged his own (obvious) exhaustion.

We went last year with a 3 year old, 5 year old, 7 and 9 year old. We had a double umbrella stroller which the kind baggage handlers broke so we bought a sit and stand. It was soooooooooooooooo worth it. Most of the time we had 3 kids sharing it. We would park it in a land and go around then grab it and go to the next land. We would not have gotten much done if we didn't have it. Even my 9 year old asked if he could hitch a ride sometimes. I wouldn't have minded sitting in it myself

Have just returned and also have a 4yr old..he rarely uses is stroller anymore but lived in it whilst at the parks and also all around DTD etc.. he was so exhausted everyday there is no way we would have got it all done if he had of been walking.

sorry to hijack, but now that I see so many that are using strollers for their children it has me thinking about my 6 yro. I wasn't going to bring one but am having second thoughts. Is there somewhere at the park that you can leave your stroller for the day or a few hours. We will be walking to/from HOJO and I am the only adult with 2 boys, that among other things have sensory issues, I thought this may a good option for getting to/from the park. It will also help keep the little one safe if he is having a difficult day. TIA!

aliceinoz - We've parked a stroller in stroller parking and took the train around and around and walked around and returned hours later. We've left it at POTC stroller parking, too. It should be fine.
