Strollers for older kids?

Last year my dd 5 and 1/2 wanted us to get a stroller every day (it helps they are free with my Visa). We are going again (11 days ) and when I asked her if she wanted a stroller this time she said yes, so long as she won't run into anyone she knows.
It got me thinking, do your older kids like having a stroller, I like it because we move faster and she isn't so tried on the walk back to the hotel.

If she'll be ok with it, do it! I think it's great and anything to help with tired feet, cranky kids etc. can only be good! I fully plan on bringing one for my 3 and a half year old. I'd use them as long as your kids are ok with them!

Yes, we do it too! When it is free, why not? Our dd is 6 but our ds is 11 so anything that keeps dd going as long as ds is worth trying. She fits perfectly fine in the stroller and it lets her last longer in the evening. We usually get one after dinner so we can try and stay as late as possible in the parks. The only downsides are having to push a big kid and when they have to get out and walk back to the hotel!

Do what works for your family. When my kids were that age they would have been in the stroller at least part of the time I am sure. Disney trips aren't like real life. I mean how many times have you taken your kids to a mall or zoo and stayed as long as 12 hours? If your daughter is okay with it, enjoy having her in one, safe and sound and not tired out. Your days for that are numbered! My kids are 10 and 12 and sometimes I miss the stroller. It was a great place to store things besides kids! And I see kids older than six all the time in strollers at DL and WDW.

We did not get a stroller for DS6, though we had one for DS2. We figured we'd rent one if DS6 really started to complain, and we sort of expected this to occur in the late afternoon/evening.

As it was, anytime DS2 was out of the stroller, DS6 wanted a ride, so there was always an occupant. This worked out well for the most part, though DS6 did whine a few times when he was not in the stroller.

At the end of our stay, we were amazed that DS6 walked the whole day every day, and still had more energy to burn once we were back at the hotel! He did great, and can't wait to go back.

My 7 1/2 year old used one some of the time on the last trip. It helped her get thru the long days, and it helped us get thru crowds of people faster.

We have a double but DD 6 does hop in it from time to time when there is an empty seat. I have no problem with that. Everyone has there own magical cutoff! Mine will be when I am able to cut it down to a single stroller, she will have to walk because the younger two will share the single. I go alone with three kids so I can't wait to have just a single stroller. She will probably be about 8 by then!

We rented one for our DGS5 the first morning in the park (free with visa) and he used it very little, so that afternoon we didn't bother and he did great. Ended up not even renting one the rest of the week as he lasted 4 straight days without an afternoon break.

When we went in 2005, my dd, then 4.5 didn't have a stroller, just my 19 month old ds. When we went in 2006, I bought a Sit N Stand, so there was a place for my then 5.5 year old dd to sit or stand in the back. This helped keep her going longer. She did fine without it, but try carrying 40 pounds back to Harbour Blvd at midnight on the last day of 5 days. Not fun! This way she got to ride all the way into and out of the parks. The stroller was parked for a lot of the time in the parks, as we were busy on the rides and such, but it was really great to know exactly where both children were, safe in the stroller, when travelling through the really packed Adventureland midday in August. No chance of either munchkin getting lost or trampled, so very nice.

If your child will still use it, go for it!

DD5 has no problem riding in one - she enjoys the rest - but we do tend to be maniacs at the parks!!! The other perk that I like about the stroller is we use it to stash drinks and snacks, or warmer clothes - so even if there is a brief period that DD is out - we are still using it to haul around some items and that makes it much more convenient.
