We will be at the World Dec 11 -18th with me, DH, DS4, DD2 and My DMom.
We are renting a double stroller from Magic Strollers; it will have a rain cover with it. I want to stay out past the kids bedtime a night or two, but mostly for MVMCP!!!!! :santa: I plan to bring the kids jammies, winter coats, glove & hats - I am also planning on bringing either their 'fleecy' Cars & Tink blankets OR buying kid sizes sleeping bags.

I have used blankets in my strollers at home, and they always fall down, get caught in a wheel and get a hole. I wonder if a sleeping bag will prevent this problem? Does anyone have experience with this?
I think the fleece blanket will provide enough warmth especially with the rain cover to block any wind but I really want them to be as comfortable as possible so I can party with Mickey all night!

DH thinks I am crazy and overthinking everything, but I know you all understand me.

Which route would you go or do you have a better suggestion?

We have stroller blankets that have a loop & snap on each side that connect to each side of the stroller to prevent it from falling down. I purchased them off of Etsy.com, from this seller http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=22611913 and we're sooooooo pleased with the quality of her items!

You could probably find clips to attach to the blanket on each side to attach it to the stroller as well. Perhaps something like this: http://www.babyhouse.net.au/shop/in..._id=32&zenid=2ac35b10a8a7083cc9e8185adf796729

Thank you! I knew someone here would be able to give me ideas!
So to me, these look like mitten clips. :confused3 DO you think that would do the job? I have several sets of mitten clips and my kids refuse to use them! I thought perhaps some plastic clamps like from the hardware store could work for near the bottom as well. If I don't have to spend a lot of money on this that's a bonus!

Can anyone comment on if a fleece type (like the kind with Disney toons on them at Target and Walmart) blanket will be enough to keep the kiddos warm (and hopefully sleeping longer in the stroller)?

TIA!

Fleece should be warm enough. It would have been fine of rour January trip, and Jan weather is a little cooler than Dec generally. What I've done for our stroller was to use a yard of leftover fleece and made a little bag-blanket with velcro loops to attach to the stroller, but I don't know how that would work with renting unless you can find the measurements of the stroller you'll be using.

I think the mitten clips sound like a great idea to try!

I was there last Jan during the freak cold week. We had our then 14 mt old with us. I used the plastic stroller cover they make to keep the rain off, it Kept the wind off of him and was warm and toasty inside that I wanted to crawl in there with him if my big tail would have fit.:lmao:

I made stroller blankets for our stroller simliar to the secure2me blanket. I used the sheet clips to hold them on. I cut it in half and sewed in on the inside of the half moon piece. It looks like what they used and I made one child size for every season and one adult size for my Mother who is in a wheelchair and freezes in 90 degree heat. They have a website that is pretty reasonable or if you are crafty you can whip this up in no time. I think it took me 30 minutes.

Fleece would absolutely be warm enough! Fleece is amazing, it's soooooooo warm, but not bulky. It often confuses people because most associate warmth with bulk... which isn't always the case.

For what it's worth, I live in Indiana and we have negative degree weather during the winter and my children only wear fleece (except while playing out in the snow) because it's super warm, not bulky, and safe to wear in the car seat.

Do you have pictures of your fleece blanket bags? I love this idea!!

I am not anticipating rain (despite the fact that it POURED an entire day of my Feb trip) but have requested the rain cover for this exact reason. Great minds think alike!

Again, if you have pics I'd love to see them!

What a creative bunch of people we have here! :cheer2:

I picked up some mitten clips at walmart today. $2 They keep the blanket on the stroller perfectly fine. Yeah!

Then again you many not need the blankets or the coats. December weather is so unpredictible. We went to MVMCP on 12/21/06 in jeans and t-shirts. It was freakishly warm and humid for that time of year and the long-sleeved shirts and sweatshirts we brought stayed at the hotel for the entire trip!

This is so true! I was born and raised in FL and can remember one Christmas being 85 degrees then the next Christmas it snowed and the roads were icy. Watching FL people drive and walk in snow is to funny. When it snowed I remember this guy at McDonalds, I think he may of had to many spiked eggnogs, he was walking down the sidewalk slipped on the ice and slid under a car that was parked. I checked to make sure he was ok then laughed.:rotfl:

We went the easy route on this...we have the Maclaren Universal Footmuff on our Mac Quest and the JJ Cole Bundle Me Toddler on our other stroller. We do live in Chicago though and it gets crazy cold at times, so we usually always have to have them on the strollers all fall/winter.

Hooray! Great to know! I think I'll try it on one of my own strollers today!

I would love Tees and Jeans! However now I am rethinking if I should iron my DISigns on short sleeve or long sleeve Tees! :confused3

Thanks for the AM laugh!

HI Griergirl!
<<<<< I'm a Chicagoan too!
I have used my bundle me on a stroller at home and couldn't get the darn thing folded. Folding and carrying on the bus is DH's job, so I need to make it as easy as possible for him.
Do you need to take the Mac footmuffs off to fold it? I saw a double Traveler on craiglist for $175. A very good deal of our area. It has the footmuffs and rain cover. I'm thinking of maybe buying versus renting.

TIA!

We can fold our Mac Quest with the footmuff on just fine. I haven't tried the bundle me on my Mac, but my Graco that the bundle me is on folds fine wih the bundle me on. It's a pain to take either one off and move it to the other stroller, so we just got both and it makes our life so much easier :thumbsup2
