Hi! I'm trying to talk Dh into flying this summer b/c it would be a 16 hr trip done in 2 days if we don't with a 15 mth old. How exactly do strollers and airplanes work? We have an Aria, Zooper Rhumba (umbrella style, but heavy), and the huge Evenflo from the travel system(we may be getting rid of this). Which would be best? Thanks for all of your help!

Strollers are very easy to fly with. We have flown with a stroller and carseat 3 times and it is super simple. We have a lightweigh evenflo that reclines slightly and has a canopy over the top, we got it expressely for the first disney trip with DD. It was a lifesaver. You are going to want something with some sort of sun shade. It fit through the scanner at the airport and we gate checked it. I would also recommend getting your child a seat. Our children have had a seat each time we have flown and it works wonders and it is safer too.

As for driving, how well does your little one travel. DD travels great, DS not so well but he is getting better. We did drive with him to DIsney when he was 13 mos old and it was a 16hour trip without stops, we took 3 days each way to drive. 2 days were about 8-13 hours and one was 3 hours. Thank goodness for the portable TV/VCR.

Personally I would use the Aria. You can gate check it, and it'll be waiting for you right outside the plane.

When you call the airline, if you decide to get your child a seat, tell the you want to buy a seat for an infant, and you'll get it for half price. You have to use an Airplane Approved car seat.

I'd use whichever one you want at your destination since the airport/airplane part is soooo easy with a stroller. You fold it up to put it on the security belt, and then leave it at the door of the airplane (folded), which is called gate-checking. When you arrive, they put it outside the airplane door and you go on your merry way.

Since the Aria has a skimpy canopy, small wheels that are best for indoor surfaces, and no adjustable legrest, it probably isn't the best Disney stroller. The Rhumba is only about 17lbs and has bigger wheels and an adjustable legrest, I think, so that's the one I'd probably go with. The Evenflo might be too bulky and heavy to deal with on Disney buses and/or parking trams.
