What kind of stroller would you recommend bringing for a 13 month old?

We have a backpack child carrier would you recommend bringing that too?

We are starting to pack less than 2 months to go.:bounce:

A good midweight (about 10 lbs) foldable stroller. We had one by coombi, folds up small, has a sun canopy and a basket. It collapses like a regular stroller then folds in half after that.

Small enough to maneuver in the hallways yet big enough to be sturdy, have storage and give a smooth ride.

With all the "baby stuff" I've purchased this was the most used item (I think it was $60).

Only complaint: DH is tall and it was hard for him to push as the handle is not very high (he never pushed the bigger one either!) I'm 5'4", it was fine for me.

I'm planning on bringing a Graco Metrolite stroller. It is sturdier than an umbrella stroller but only weighs 13 lbs. It is very easy to fold up also.

I would recommend bringing one, but don't forget, DCL has some on Castaway Cay. They say the quantity is limited, but I never have had a problem getting one (they are Graco models with big wheels). Using theirs will keep yours out of the sand. The only problem is that they keep them out in the open & they are often wet, so bring an extra towel (when you get off the ship, they have towels for beach use ready to be picked up). You will have to carry the child (or have her walk if she/he does) to the tram, but they are not far from where the tram drops you off.

I would not recommed bringing big, full size stollers onboard....people always do but they are very hard to maneuver in the elevators which are all small. An umbrella type stroller would be best.

I would recommend not bringing one at all since DCL had strollers on board that you can "check out" for your cruise. They are evenflo and have a large basket under. We were on a full cruise with LOTS of infants and toddlers and we borrowed 2 strollers for our 7 day without any problems. Just go to Guest services right after you make your ressies and get one. They are larger strollers that would come with a travel system. We left one of ours in the hall and the other fit easily in the closet (our luggage was under the bed). Some people complain about the strollers in the hall but we were last room on Deck 5 and the only people who had to walk around it were crew mwmbers. Some are very new and some are not. I had brought some disinfecting wipes with me and just wiped the stroller down before we used it. One of mine was new and one had been used alot but still worked fine. I put a towel in the bottom of it for the whole 7 days. You can take them off the ship for excursions and we also took ours off for CC and it was a good thing because we were off before 9 am and all the Graco's were gone on CC. Just a suggestion for less to pack. Since this was our second cruise with an infant I needed less to bring.

Crew members and guests have the right to complain about this obstruction in the hall. It seems to me it is not only an inconvenience but also a hazard in case of an emergency. I have a 2-year old son so I'm aware of the bulkiness of strollers and, therefore, would advise bringing a small umbrella stroller that folds up easily and can be kept in your stateroom.

Two comments about this.

1. Strollers are limited so if you really need one, you should bring your own. Also, since you won't get the stroller until you get onboard the ship, what will you do in the terminal? We brought my DD's stroller when she was 11 months old, and it made things so much easier.

2. I also think it is a hazard to have the strollers in the hallway. It makes it difficult to walk especially when you're pushing your own stroller. If you bring an umbrella stroller or a midsize one, they really don't take up that much space in the room.

To all who are complaining about the strollers in the hall I did state that we were the last room on the deck. We also asked if it was okay to leave the stroller in that area. A few different crew mwmbers we asked said it was fine and that strollers are left outside of the rooms all over the ship and are of no inconvience to them since the halls are wide enough for them to go around the stroller with their cleaning cart. We also met many strollers, including ones just like ours from DCL, in the halls on deck 6, 7, 8 and did not have a problem going by each other. When their are 4 people in a room with a port a crib that has to be up for naps and the coffee table it does take up too much room IMO considering we already had one stroller in the closet.

Minniemouse1,

I read your first post and was not complaining. I merely stated that "crew members and guests have the right to complain." It is customary for crew members to advise that they aren't inconvenienced by the things guests do while onboard but this may not neccessarily be the truth. No matter what part of the ship your room is located, a stroller in the hall is a hazard and an inconvenience to guests and crew members. In particular, those guests who are disabled and using canes, walkers, scooters or wheelchairs have a hard enough time getting around cleaning carts and other passengers that I don't think it is fair to intentionally leave a stroller in the hall to make more room for your family in your stateroom.

I stand by my original post.

I'll ditto everything justcruisin said.

We have the same combi stroller she's talking about and we had no problems storing it in the closet (it folds up to smaller than 7"x12"x"36").

At 5'10", I do find the handles to be a little low but managable.
