Stroller - yes or no?

when we go to WDW in August my girls will be 4 years old and 6.5 years old.

We haven't had our stroller out for a few months now.

I'm on the fence whether or not to bring the stroller to Disney. My oldest is a bit old for a stroller typically, but I assume she will want a rest at some point during the day.

Note: We have a City Select w/ 2 seats.

You could bring it but not use it if it's not needed.

That is really a personal preference, are you flying? If so, I probably wouldn't want to have to load it on and off the plane and hassel with it. We started going when my son was just barely 3. Occasionally, and frankly I can only remember 1 time, we would rent a stroller mid day at WDW but otherwise, he hated the things and wouldn't sit in them. I never liked dealing with them since we always take Disney transport, he would just sleep in my lap on the monorail and bus. I was a single mother so the less I had to deal with the better.

Last few times we flew we checked the stroller at the gate, so it was actually really handy to have. If the kids weren't sitting in it, I could load bags on the stroller and less crap to carry.

I was also thinking about the park. I could toss a spare shirt, some water, camera bag, etc under the stroller and it's less stuff to carry around. Last time I want in the August heat is to have to wear a backpack. I also found last time there were a ton of strollers so it wasn't much of an inconvenience.

I am pretty sure my kids will crash at some point in the afternoon being in the heat all day. We plan on heading to the hotel in the afternoon to use the pool, but its still a long day for kids that normally go to bed at 7:30.

We always take our stroller...even my 7 year old camped out in it for a hour last trip. He was just purely exhausted from all the walking. With a 4 year old, most definitely I would take it or rent one.

I have an almost four year old and am very pro stroller. But you know your kiddos and your touring style. I'd rather have it and not need it, but that's just me. I suppose you could always just rent one if you didn't want to deal with it at the airport or have it take up room in the car if you're driving.

Absolutely yes.... especially since you have two kids under 8. My daughter was well out of a stroller at 5, but she used it and much appreciated in when we went... My son will be five this trip (she'll be 11), and we aren't even questioning it. If you want to zip to a destination or even coral a kid - it is great for that. If you had a sit and stand it would be even better! And airport? For sure!!! So helpful.

We were going to rent this time (as our stroller was broken), however, I ended up getting a great lightweight one with recline and canopy on Kijiji for $15!!! I'm so excited as it was going to be $80 for ten days... now I'll have it for the airport.

My son is pretty hearty and I'm sure he 'could' keep up. But he is so full of energy I am glad I have a place where I can find him... and for at night when he's tired. We carried our daughter once or twice, but we were at CSR with a close bus stop... this time we are at AoA in the Little Mermaid rooms and I CANNOT even imagine carrying the nearly 50lb lug that far... he crashes.

We just returned from Disney (sniff, sniff) and have not had a stroller at home for over a year with our 4.5 and 6.5 kiddos! We rent a stroller when we go down as we figure the kids can manage the airport and such but the parks when they are busy is NOT a place I want my panic attacks to set it. Our oldest, DD, is a friendly sort and wants to meet EVERYONE at the park-lol. So, keeping her contained-ish is key for us. Stops the whining and complaining when they hit their wall. Is it a hassle on the Disney transport yes, but is it worth it in the crowds, even bigger YES for our family.

if you have even a tiny bit of question in your mind about stroller vs. no stroller, then the answer is yes, bring it. If you don't, be open to the idea of renting one if your kids are miserable.

We go to Disney every Aug./Sept. and have had kids from 7 weeks to 14 year old. The kids are healthy, active, and 2 of them sports loving kids, however yes at 4 and 6.5, I'd def. bring a stroller. For single kids, we bring a stroller through age 4 and even then often rent one at Disney for 5/6 depending on the park. If you have a double, I'd def. bring it, if you didn't have a double, I'd seriously think about renting one from one of the offsite places (the ones that have the double citi mini's etc.). I think you'll find that your kids will use it more than you thought, especially in Aug.

It's also really nice to have a place for both to sit for parades, at night when it's dark crowded, at closing (trying to get out of the parks) or just if you're wanting to get somewhere relatively quickly or are walking across the park.

Almost exactly what I was going to write! I'd much prefer to have it and not need it than not have it at all. It's SO handy for us to use the stroller to carry around bags, clothes, drink mugs, autograph books etc. The excessive walking, the heat, and the crowds cause kids to react in different ways. From my experience, young kids will be pretty drained from that.
And from a safety standpoint sometimes, during more crowded park times, I'm thankful to not have to rely on just holding a hand and hoping you don't get separated.

We're taking our 6 y/o granddaughter for the first time in January. (She turns six Dec 22). We gave away both our jogging stroller and our double stroller last year so we've decided to wing it without one. If Papa gets tired of carrying her, I'm sure he'll rent one though. Or, we'll just take lots of breaks. Wish I still had that stroller. . .

Depends on the kid. Personally I wouldn't want to bring a stroller to Disney but obviously some people have to or like to. I don't care for crowds and having a stroller means going slower either way (same could be said for going with kids without a stroller but my kids are pretty good about walking long distances). I'd consider it for a 4 year old at Disney, but older than that, probably not.

I'd bring a single if you have one. Most 4 year olds will need a stroller at Disney in that heat. More 6 year olds won't need it than will - it comes down to every child is different. Since your youngest is 4, there may be times that child is walking too, meaning the 6 year old could even get a break in the stroller if needed. If the only option is double or none, then I'd do double since it's a strong yes for the your youngest. (Though, check weight maximums. I'm not familiar with that stroller with two seats, but I thought the single had a 45lb limit, which some 6 year olds are over).
