Stroller suggestions needed(buying)

We are leaving next Thursday from Ohio for our trip to WDW. Because our larger car(small SUV) is a lease and we already took it to TX, we have to take our small sedan. My DD is 3.5 and I planned originally on taking a new Graco Lightrider we have set aside for the next baby, but there is no way we can get it into the trunk with all the suitcases and other things we are bringing. I bought a cheap umbrella stroller today only to find out that it is only good up to 30lbs. My dd is 36 lbs. Anyone have any suggestions for a cheap umbrella stroller($20 or under) that is good for older toddlers? I would love one with a net or something, but I'm thinking they will all be too expensive.

Given your money and space restraints, I'd either take the umbrella stroller and just toss it if it breaks, or I'd just plan on renting a stroller as needed while you are there. With a preschooler you may not need a stroller every day and the rentals have a net for storage and a good sunshade that the umbrella stroller may not have.

We used a cheep umbrella stroller for DD 2.5 in April. She weighs 33 lbs and it was WONDERFUL! We really put it to the test... We used it and gate checked it at the airport, in all of the parks, on the Boardwalk, walking to and from EPCOT every day for 6 days!

No No. squeeze your other stroller in. Youll be so glad you did.

Some space saving tips are to pack clothes in Zip lock bags. We took a family of 4 for 10days, with extra wedding attire, in ziplock bags and we only needed two suit cases!

Can you put the stroller in the seat beside your child or in front of her under her feet?

I don't think your 3.5 yr old will need a LightRider (we've owned 3!). Our daughter, almost 2, has been riding in a Combi Savvy for the last year or so and it's worked out well... but it's a bit more than $20. My suggestion would be to stop off at a WalMart or Target down there and pick up the cheapest lightweight stroller you can find. Usually it's a Kolcraft or something like that. My 5 year old still gets tired so a stroller is still a must for us, but if you think she might walk most of the time, then go for the daily rental.

At the end of your trip, you can either bring it back with you or leave it.... and you might even find someone here on the boards to pass it on to!

I went ahead and got a small Kolcraft today for $20. Doesn't actually look too bad and it has a double cup holder, net under, and a shade. We really don't ever use one anymore, so I didn't want to get an expensive one with the new Lightrider and a new travel system here already. I clearance shop and got both of those at 75% off, so it killed me to pay more for this little one than the Lightrider...lol. We are actually contemplating taking the Aztec now, but I still think this one will be easier to lug around than the Lightrider. Thanks for all the advice.

Where did you find the stroller? It sounds exactly like what I am looking for.

Off topic a bit, but have you considered one of those soft luggage carriers for the top of the car? We used one when we went to Nantucket a couple of years ago because we wanted to take a smaller vehicle on the ferry.

I paid about $50 for it at the Samsonite Outlet Store. We had a luggage rack, but it was designed to be used even without one. It wouldn't be very convenient if you were getting things in and out a lot, but just opening it a couple of times, it was great.

We used it again when we flew out to Denver last year. We actually put it back in the box and packed it into the suitcase. It went on top of the rental van and held four suitcases and some miscellaneous stuff. We could have probably squeezed all the luggage in, but it was nice to get it out of the kids' way.

It is waterproof. It has been well worth the $50 and is available the next time we need it.

Target. Think it's called Lil' Sport or something along those lines. The only downside it that she really just fits in it exactly. I don't think a taller child would fit, so may not work others. It reclines too, so that's another plus I did not mention. I would gladly pass it along to someone else if we could work something out. We leave May 22nd and are staying at POP. E-mail me at pkarlovetz@earthlink.net if you can use it.
