Stroller suggestions for two! Bring Own or Rent?

We didn't have any problems having ours stolen either. We had a bright bandana on both of ours.

Yep, you can push it right on the ferry, very convenient!

We ended up driving to the other parks too, easier with a bigger stroller.

Have fun!!

We will have a car, so may just opt to drive to the parks instead of using the busses. The only one would be MK, in which we will probably use the ferry.

I am under the assumption, we can just ride right onto the ferry without folding it up? Anyone know if this is true or not?

If you have a car- the duoglider is fine!! Our kids were a bit younger than yours when we took that stroller, but it worked great. The basket was big enough, the canopies were great sun coverage and if they fall asleep, you can drape a blanket over the top of both canopies to keep the sun off of them. We rent a car each time we go and drive to the parks each day. We do get AAA parking, so we never have to take a tram- makes it a bit easier, but it is definitely doable!!

And yes, you can push the duoglider onto the ferry or the monorail- it fits easily onto the monorail without folding!!

Have a great trip!

I'd say rent if you can afford it, depends on how many days you're there.

If you bring your own, make sure it's empty and folded up when you get on a bus or trolly or any transportation. We were always scrambling to unpack ours because we didn't realize that there's practically no room for them when we would take the Disney transportation.

I thought the rented ones were very easy to push around, too.

We LOVED our rental while we were there. Our DD5 and DS2 loved it too. It was nice to have a place to plop the back pack too. The only draw back was the rentals at MGM I did not like them at all. The were the jogging type and the canopy kept falling on the kids. We payed for the week the first day we were there and will not hesitate to rent again when we go back next May. It was convenient and gave them good shade and a place to rest when they were tired. There is a mesh bag with pockets on it in the back that was always full with things we used regularly, cameras, fans, autograph books etc. I loved our double rental while we were there, of course I am sure it's not for everyone. Like I said even next year when they will be 6 and 3 a double rental will be one of our first purchases. Have a magical trip!

I thought of this picture and thought I would post it. This is shortly after we arrived in Epcot our DS zonked right out.:

If you go with the two single umbrella strollers, you may want to pick up a set of these:

http://www.burlingtoncoatfactory.co..._Id=264281&sku1=k_s1_71123149&is_baby_depot=1

This will allow you to connect the strollers so only one person has to push at times. The other person can be available to read maps, take pictures, etc.
The only downfall is that sometimes when making a 360 degree turn the two front wheels can hit. To avoid this I lock one of the wheels.

I would also recommend buying a higher end umbrella stroller that turns good. We had one of the cheaper $10 ones and it was terrible.

We did two single Maclaren Quests on our trip last February - that worked out ok (I had the stroller connectors). I thought DH & I would be splitting up with the kids, but that didn't happen.

For our trip last week, I bought the Maclaren Twin Traveller...loved it. It's not light (I think it's about 30lbs), but DH did not complain when we did use the bus, which was only a few times (we rented a car). He said it was actually easier, bus-wise, with the double rather than two singles. I "handle" the kids (5 & 2) & the dipaer bag; he has stroller duty. When we used the monorail, they let us use the handicapped car & pushed the stoller right on. We also pushed it right on the boat in Epcot. The mac double fit through every door we had to go through.

DH & I are both tall, so the cheaper umbreller strollers hurt our backs (we have to hunch over slightly to push). Mac's handles are up a bit higher.

Ohh I never heard of stroller connectors.. great idea! DH & I are still trying to decide what we want to do next year. On the one had, if we rent then we don't have to lug our own strollers and won't have to worry about where to store them on the cruise... But if we rent, what do we do with sleepy kids at the end of the day or on excusrions on the cruise? We're probably leaning towards bringing the 2 umbrella strollers....

We just got back 2 1/2 weeks ago and it was $18 per day to rent a double stroller. So glad I had my McLaren with us. That saved us a lot of money. However, like a lot of others have said you can probably buy a few decent umbrella strollers for reasonable prices. And I know there are things you can do to snap two umbrella strollers together to make them a double.

We just got back from out trip with ds(7), dd(just turned 5) and twins (3). After going back and forth between using what we own, picking up cheap umbreller strollers when we got there, of renting, we decided to bring our double jogging stroller. Our reasons were:

- Both 3 year olds are over 40 pounds
- 5 year old is on the well...lazy...side, so we knew she would have trouble keeping up in the parks
- We had some late nights planned (Halloween party...) and we knew that it was possible that 2 may fall asleep and the third would't have much left for the walk out of the park. (Very hard to carry 3 tired/sleeping kids)

Anyway, we gate checked the stroller and had no problem getting it into the back of our rental minivan. My husband would fold it up on the monorail if the kids were all awake, or just roll it on if they were sleeping. WE were able to put the third child up on the handle bars while we pushed. All 3 could get a ride!

I thank God that we didn't rent. It just wouldn't have worked for us. Three nights we had at least one child asleep as we left the parks. It would have been very hard to juggle the kids without the stroller.

The only problem that we found with the double jogger, since it is bigger than a wheelchair, was going through the gates when you hand in your tickets. The opening isn't larger enough to wheel it in, so my husband would just pick it up over the gates. When we had sleeping kids, I had to help lift it! WE must have been an interesting site!

Good luck with your decision!

Pam

We have a double unbrella stroller made by Jeep that we got for $70 at Babies 'r us. It fits through a standard doorway, so we've never had any problem with it so far. And it folds up pretty small for DH to carry. This is what we plan to use on our next trip. I also carry a mei tai carrier (holds children up to 35 lbs in eaither a front carry or back carry) that will hold one child so that we can easily get through crowds at bus stops. My mei tai folds up so small that it fits in a quart size ziploc bag for easy storage.

I loved renting. My kids were old enough to walk until we got to the rental area though and I just found it wayyyy easier carrying them onto busses monorails and boats to sit in my lap rather than stuggling with foldng up a stroller and unfolding it as soon as I got there.

My kids thought it was comfortable (I didn't have an infant that needed to recline) and they just took turns getting in it as they were tired of walking. the youngest was 2 and would put his stuffed dog on the seat and lay across the seat of the double to nap when he was really tired.

I thought renting a double made our trip way easier. I took a single umbrella for the airport for the 2 year old. We did end up taking this to the parks for the 2 year old toward the end of our week because the 5 and 6 year olds were doing much better at the parks with a stroller (they lasted longer).

I never had a problem with anyone taking my stoller. The CM's do move them constantly to clear walkways etc. so it helps if you tie a colorful scarf on the handle to easily spot it in the sea of strollers. Sometimes we had to search for our stroller a little bit as even if you put in in the designated stroller parking area outside of a ride, the CM's might be compacting the space to make room for more strollers and it will still be moved. This still happened with our personal stroller, so that should not sway you.

I think it depends on age of kids and where you are staying. If you are at a monorail resort or boat access...I would take what you have, because it can be rolled on to the trasportation with out folding...if you need to take a bus to get around....and you don't have an infant, I would rent.

That's our experience as well. We LOVED renting. However, a second caveat - renting a stroller every day isn't cheap.

Ok, we just returned, and we stayed at the FW cabins.....We had a 2 1/2 yr old and an 11 mo old. We brought a combi twin stroller I had gotten from The Children's Orchard. This folded smaller than the duo glider, but still was bulky. Once we were there, we hated having to put the kids in and out of the stroller for the internal bus and then the external bus, so we gave it up and got the Cart ($400 later....we were there for 10 days, and they don't offer length of stay discounts!!) after that, the bulky stroller on the cart with the 6 of us (had my MIL and 7yr old with us as well) was too much. Plus the babies were fighting from being side by side. (And I don't mean the 2 year old!!!! :rotfl: The 11 mo old kept stealing his brother's binky, wubby, and hitting him. And my 2 yr old, who is quite a handful normally, was pretty good about not hitting back for a while.) So we rented for a day, and then gave it up again and bought two single umbrella strollers at Disney ($40 each  ) Not cheap, but turned into the best solution. The babies had a much better time after that and my 2 yr old was able to nap in the stroller, which he wasn't able to do in the double, b/c of his brother!!)
