I have a just turned 4 and 6 year old.

In the past I have taken the sit n stand which I like but it's a beast. It worked out OK when we stayed at the epcot resorts but this year we are totally bus bound and it is a beast!

I also have a chicco umbrella and a cheapo umbrella from Walmart courtesy a friend. But it is me and my mom so I don't want her to HAVE to push when she is tired.

I also want the girls to walk a bit and not always hop in the stroller but I don't want fighting about it either. It will be hot and we are doing parks 7 days straight.

Options:

take the sit and stand

take one umbrella and have them take turns- any advice on making rules for turns?

take one and buy the red $40 disney if needed

Take two umbrellas- we will pass the cheapo to another famiy when we leave

I am so torn! TIA

I'm a firm believer in the kid's comfort overriding a few minutes of possible hassle on the busses. I just loathe umbrella strollers and how uncomfortable little ones always look in them when they are trying to rest. They look so scrunched up and the sun is always blasting on them since they don't usually have much shade. I say take the stroller that you know will work well for both of your kids - the sit and stand.

I would take the chicco umbrella and the cheapo- sit and stand is a beast! Also, second rider is a lot less comfy than in an umbrella, sitting straight up w/ no back support!

Is there any shade with the Sit-n-Stand? If not, I would take the umbrella strollers. Each child can have his/her own space. Also, you don't want a tired six year old having a meltdown because there isn't a stroller to sit in if he's tired. I bought the extra shades at BRS for our Macs (I don't remember the brand - maybe Kidpottumus?), and they are great for providing extra shade.

Take two umbrella strollers.

Park one in the area your in and let the oldest one walk, pick that stroller up and let her ride to next area. Then your mother isn't always pushing a stroller and the older one isn't always riding.

Faced the same issue in April (4 and 6 year olds). We bought a Jeep All Weather double umbrella stroller. It is GREAT. It is super light but it is a double - really easy to push. It is bigger than a traditional umbrella but folds up really small.

You can buy them in stores for $75.00 but I found one online new for $45 shipping included (just google it).

We had no problems on the bus and it lasted all week - we are taking it again in Dec.

Only down side is the canopys are horrible. We did not even put it one - just went without. No big deal - we are in and out if it all day.

I think this is what we have decided to do. It's too late to buy additional shades since we leave tomorrow. DD6 can walk most of the time so this is a great tip. We probably will leave both strollers at the entrance to each land (in a designated spot of course) and then pick them both up when we are done with that area. I think we will only use one at HS, our short day at MK, and DTD. We will use both at Epcot, AK, and the full day of MK.

Thanks to everyone!

We don't use the shades either anymore. They don't sleep in the strollers and are in and out too.

We have the same issue. We have two boys, ages 2 and just turned 7, last September we only took one stroller and our older son complained alot about not getting to ride. It was hot and he was tired of walking so there was alot of stress over that and we really didn't spend alot of time in Epcot's World Showcase because of it. We ended up trading off getting to ride but still it was not great having an 18 month old walking. We too have the Sit N Stand, and agree it is a beast. Last year we flew and didn't want to lug it on a plane and there is no way we are going to take it this next trip. We decided to rent a double stroller from Orlando Stroller Rental. I have read some great reviews and the price is not bad, I think that it is 85.00 for a week. It is way cheaper than renting a Disney double stroller for the week. I thought for a minute about buying a new double stroller but we seem to collect single strollers and don't need to buy another stroller to take up space in our garage.
