Stroller Rentals

I recently read that the cost of renting a stroller has gone up tremendously in the last couple of years. My first question is: WHY IS THAT? $30 +/- for a double stroller is just crazy.

However, I have 2 sons - 3 and 6. I am thinking of renting a double stroller for them. My younger son refuses to sit in his own stroller anymore so bringing it is really not an option. Neither one of my kids are big walkers, so I know that they will be complaining pretty quickly. Will they fit in it together? My 3 year old is a peanut - 30 lbs, 34", but my 6 year old is 65 lbs. Anyone have experience with children of similar sizes sharing a stroller?

Finally, if I rent the stroller for one day to try it out and it works out, can I then apply that day to a length of stay rental? I know it is a little bit of a savings to rent for multiple days.

Thanks in advance! It seems that if I do end up renting a stroller for a week, it nearly eats up the savings of the 4/3 promo!

First let me say that I think having a stroller for them is a good idea. I'll definitely have somewhere for my 5 year old to sit when we go, even though she's a "good" walker.

Have you considered a double stroller swap or maybe renting one from an outside company? It will save you a considerable about of money. Hopefully if its cool and different from one from home, your boys will go for it!

Have you checked the stroller swaps on the Budget boards? They have double strollers. Some are 10-20 dollars for the entire length of stay and some are free!

Has anyone rented a double from them? How does it fold up? Kim68 we have very similar sized kids:) Thanks for the thread!!!

I'd rent from Orlando Stroller Rentals. They rent and awesome double!

The double was a nice stroller? I'm thinking about renting one from them for a 1 year old and a 5 year old. Does is fold up pretty easily to get on the buses etc, pretty easy to steer? Are their strollers in nice shape? My husband is a germphobe and he's a little weird about a "used" stroller, but I'm sure they don't clean the DW ones on a regular basis either!

Thanks!

The double is the Baby Jogger City Mini - it's an awesome stroller! Chances are you can find a local retailer which carries them and go play with one to get a first-hand look. You can't beat them for durability, ease of use (so easy to push/steer even with heavy kids) and the sun canopies are ginormous. (No, I don't work for them but this is why I bought a BJ City stroller! :lmao: )

Check out the video which shows all the bells and whistles - click on the big "view demo" button:

And on that same site if you scroll down to the "Lets Go Strolling stroller specs" they list the exact measurements which should give you an idea of how comfortbale your kids would be in it. My 47" 52lb almost-5 year old can fit in it with his head just brushing the canopy so it's fine for use at Disney when he just wants to sit and veg for a few minutes.

I think Disney strollers are great for one day trips but for longer use I'd go with something more comfortable. The Disney strollers are hard plastic so it's hard to get comfy and the seat backs are really low so the kids can't really lean back to relax.

Thanks! I think I'm sold! ;) I watched the folding video and it seems pretty easy to collapse, like to take on the buses.

I think this is a good solution for us. I like that they deliver to and pick it up from my resort. The stroller swap idea is great, but it would be hard for us to get it to another resort.

I had thought about renting or getting in a stroller swap, but the problem is that I think they exceed the weight limit. We have a sit and stand at home and that is even difficult to push with the big guy in the back.

Thanks for the tip. Now I'm wondering if its worth the extra $$ to do this and have it delivered or do a swap for $20.
