Hey all, my son keeps outgrowing everything lol. Recommendation for a stroller rental for a 52” 50lb 6 year old (trip is still 5 months away so allow a few inches growth as a possibility). I’m looking for something with a sunshade so he can hide from the crowds if he needs to. Help?

I suggest checking Orlando Medical Rentals. They have a few models for older/bigger kids.

Enjoy your vacation!

We did the Mini last time, our son has been a few inches above the dr height chart for 3 years now so the problem is the 52” height, the strollers for 50-75lbs are all listed at topping out at 44- 48” and he was cramped in that last time we went (when he was 4) so I was hoping for a specific recommendation from another tall child family for a stroller with the sun shade that would fit his height.

Thanks for the Orlando medical rentals recommendation! I’ve sent a message asking about a few of their mobility strollers that might fit the bill (but don’t have max heights listed). 🥰

I haven't used this company but I saw them recommended on an earlier thread when I was searching (my 5 year old son has autism is about 50" and 67 lbs. we are going in July and he doesn't normally use strollers but we went a few weeks ago and with the heat he was tiring faster and needs a place to calm down so I'm looking for options now). This one looks like it might work.

That’s one of the ones I messaged them about! My dude is tall but thin, he could easily fit the weight requirement for any stroller rental but would be cramped because of his height.

Thanks Sue! For some reason I thought the Liberty was the one without a sunshade. I’m assuming your post means Orlando medical rentals is NOT able to drop off a stroller at the hotel without us being there to meet them?

Yes.
Orlando Medical Rentals is not one of the Featured Providers, but they have the biggest selection.

The Citi Mini GT will not work. My 49” 5 year old sits in ours every once in a while when her brother isn’t in it and she is way too tall for the sunshade. Wanted to let you know since that stroller gets recommended a lot.

We use a convaid cruiser, which we bought. After using the stroller at WDW we found it opened the doors to so many activities at home. Turned out it's a bargain.

I'm late to the party here, but wanted to chime in.
My ASD son (7 years old) needs a stroller and we use the shade to create a personal bubble, too! We rent the Liberty from Kingdom Strollers and have always been happy with it. It's big and comfortable to sit in, SO MUCH NICER than pushing a shorter chair!! Getting on and off the buses sometimes takes an extra minute, especially if there is only one adult with the chair and the kids, but not terrible at all.

The one down side is not much storage on the bottom. We don't carry a ton of stuff, but we do usually have sunscreen, diaper supplies, and some snacks. We put them in backpack, undo the straps, and loop them over the stroller handle bars. When he's in the stroller, the bag hangs between the chair and the person pushing. When he's not sitting in the stroller, I can flip the bag so it's hanging over the seat and the stroller doesn't tip. Does that make sense?

Highly recommend!

There are universal add on available that can be attached to almost any stroller. I made a sectioned organizer for my son's old Cruiser. Given my sewing skill level, it was nothing fancy but did pockets for sun screen, Diastat, small first aid kit, rain ponchos and snacks. I used elastic bands and velco to attach it directly to the back of the seat. It didn't unbalance the stroller. It was trimmed in Star Wars ribbon to match his Star Wars seat covers, which he liked. I still use carabiner clips on the new stroller.
