I am currently 20 weeks pregnant with my first baby and am planning a trip to WDW in mid-October. The baby will be approx 6 weeks old. The stroller we are thinking about purchasing has a car seat adapter and a bassinet but the stroller itself it not suitable for an infant. I don't think I want the baby in the carseat for all those hours, although I am thinking of getting some kind of carrier. Back to the original questions though. Somehow I don't think taking the stroller apart for the buses or tram (if we chose to drive to the park) is going to work very well. Can anyone suggest a stroller that is suitable from birth up? I'm open to all suggestions!!

Thanks!!

I agree ~ don't leave your baby in the bucket *car seat* all day ~ they're meant for car use, ever seen those babies with the helmets? A lot of them spent way too much time in a bucket. Make sure you get a stroller that will lay flat. I haven't shopped for a stroller in a long time ~ my baby is 6, her Disney stroller is a Mac Volo which is great from about 6 months up but not for a newborn. I'd get an umbrella fold if you can.

Is this your 1st baby? If so you're brave ~ I don't think I could've done Disney when my 1st was 6 weeks old ~ I was a mess, but with my 2nd no problem ~ motherhood the 2nd time around was much easier ~ DD wasn't a better baby I was a better *more relaxed* mom.

Yup, first baby! We only live 2 hours away so it's not a huge trip for us. But it should be interesting! My DSis is taking her youngest for her 2nd birthday (we went last year for her first as well). We've never taken a baby this young (my oldest niece was 7 or months the first time she went) but I'm hoping it won't be too much of a train wreck!

The Combi Flare or Cosmo looks like it should be infant suitable, but I'm not 100% sure.

Don't know if it'll help, but we used to have a Graco that was designed for infancy thru around 5 yrs. It laid completely flat, had cloth flaps that came up and enclosed the head end and under the seat cushion there were pop up sides for the bottom end. Then the seat cushion just laid right back down. It was like a mini bassinet! Very secure and comfy, also no straps necessary in this position and plenty of stretching room for a wiggly new little one. Worked like a charm for our newbie. It also had a roomy basket underneath for those little extras you don't want to carry all day. The only minus was that it wasn't as compact as some of the smaller strollers for getting on and off buses, but it was a small price to pay! With only one child and I'm assuming baby's dad will be there too, This should be no prob. We had a 1 1/2 yr old and a 3 month old with 2 single strollers. DH took a kid and a stroller and I did likewise. Sometimes I took both kids and he took both strollers. Either way, it all works out. Have a great time and congrats on the new little bundle of joy! :thumbsup2

:yay:We took my son when he was 3 months old and that was the best Disney Trip we had (with kids!) He was so content and slept almost the entire trip. We used the graco travel system that has the bucket with it. I strongly recommend that because we used the bucket most of the time, but when we knew he'd be sleeping for a while we put the seat all the way down with blankets and he was very cozy. The shade kept him well proteced and the foot rest folds up so no worries of things hanging out! That's my opinion...have fun and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Actually, plagiocephaly is caused by a lot of different things. My son has plagio because of his womb position and getting stuck in the birth canal. Laying on the back is equally as bad as sitting in a seat, it just causes a different distortion of the skull. Any pressure on the head can cause plagio, some babies are just highly susceptible to it. It is not because the parents did something wrong. The only way to prevent it is to have the baby on its stomach, which you should never do because of SIDS.

Please get a Boppy Noggin Nest. This product can help prevent plagio somewhat. We used it for my son and it did help.

I agree. My older dd was only put down to sleep and developed plagio. My younger dd, used to cry to be put down, loved to lay on her back and look at the world, etc. (which was confusing for me at first- lol) and she has a beautifully shaped head.

I was going to recommend a graco stroller in this case. Normally, I just like the snap n go, but the graco reclines all of the way. Another thing I would recommend is a moby or some other stretchy wrap so you can wear baby upright. A baby bjorn works that young, but isn't good for baby once they are big enough to have their legs dangle. When they are tiny, it puts them in more of a seated position. If you could borrow a bjorn that would be nice to have.

I also recommend using the "bucket" for your trip. A baby this young should be fine using the baby carrier piece for your trip. While the strollers can lay flat, the seat in the upright position should not be used for a baby this young. They are not able to support themselves in a seat like this for several more months. I would use the travel system with the baby carrier attached and supplement with the baby carrier so the baby isn't in the stroller all day. If you search through posts on this board, a lot of people recommend the carriers because you can bring the baby right onto rides wearing it.

FWIW- my DD would only sleep in the carrier for the first few months of her life. We actually put her in the carrier and the carrier in the crib and she has had no concerns with flattening.

We took DS to Disney in May when he was 6 weeks old. I brought our bucket with the snap n go stroller. However, I mostly used a ring sling. I could put him in there to nurse and then he would be in there to go on the rides. I did have a light weight piece of material that I brought to put under him in the bucket and had a fan to circulate the air while he was in the bucket.

I would never bring the bucket seat to WDW but we travel mostly in the summer months and I couldn't leave the baby in the seat in that heat, even with a fan. Plus since we often use Disney buses/transportation, it would be a pain to carry on and off. As far as newborn trips, we took DS at 3 months and DD at 9 weeks and almost 4 months and they both were either in a carrier/sling or laying flat in a stroller when they slept. Our doctor mentioned that the carseats aren't meant for seating, simply for car travel so that is what we did. I think whatever you feel most comfortable with will work since you have some options. Have a great trip!

We have a Combi double stroller and DD was able to lay flat to sleep at both 9weeks and 3.5 months. As far as doubles go, it's a great stroller that is pretty small once folded. It's great for travel too.
