So we are heading to Disney in a few weeks (we drive since we are only a few hrs away). My daughter will be one so we need to bring a stroller (along with a carrier). We have a fairly expensive stroller and we are concerned about theft (read some reports about stroller theft there). We don't really want to buy a new stroller just for disney. I heard they will not allow you to lock your stroller to anything but can I just lock the 2 wheels together in the back with a stroller lock. You can still move it but not run off with it.

I think the problem would come in when the stroller attendants rearrange the strollers to make room for more as some leave. I personally never had any problems with leaving my stroller, but i'm sure it happens.

Thats why I figured I just lock the 2 rear wheels together. You can still move it but you have to lift the rear of it to go anywhere.

@amytaylor2 just beat me to it!
Sure you can lock your wheels together. At least you are nice enough to lock the same (rear wheels) What will disappoint cast member is when they need to roll it somewhere else as they "clean up the stroller parking areas". They will then have to drag your stroller to its new location. This may cause a shift in any items left behind or scuff wheels or anything else. .

We have used only umbrella strollers at Disney over 4 trips, the first at 9 months, the most expensive being a $150 stroller. Never felt like it would end up missing due to theft. You don't hear too many reports of missing strollers. More about missing snacks from the squirrels. Do what you want to feel safe and secure. Have a great trip

We rented a stroller for that exact reason. We used one of the three featured stroller providers ( https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/stroller-rentals/ ), got the theft insurance, and paid something like $79 for the week. To me it's worth it for the peace of mind. Plus now I don't have to check my massive stroller with our luggage when we fly- one of the lovely benefits of flying American Airlines. (Strollers over 20 lbs cannot be gate checked.)

We got a double stroller off Craigslist for about $50. It was older and beat up, but it rolled. Worked for us.

I'll go against the grain and state that the times I didn't bring our nice, expensive stroller (City Select) - once I brought a Maclaren umbrella - HUGE mistake, and another time I brought a City Mini - also not great COMPARED to the City Select - I sorely missed our nice big, comfortable stroller. The only time I worried about leaving it at WDW was at DTD - otherwise at the parks I've never really given it a second thought beyond our first trip when I brought a stroller lock and locked the wheels like you mention. I guess stroller theft happens - but I would stick with what you feel most comfortable with!

EDIT: This was over 14 trips - Two of which I thought about bringing lighter weight options because my DH stayed home, and I still missed the nice but heavy stroller!

We felt the same way when our children were younger, so we rented a "City Double" from an Orlando rental agency. It was much less than the Disney rentals, WAY more comfortable for the kids, came personalized with our family name on it, collapsed easily, was clean, and was waiting for us at check-in. No hassles at all!

I rented a Citi Mini GT double for a week from Orlando Strollers and it was about $100 with the insurance. If your stroller is a lot more expensive than that, I would consider renting one. They are great strollers with the rubber tires and very easy to push around. Whatever you decide just put something on the stroller to make it obvious that it is yours. I think strollers sometimes seem to go missing because someone accidentally takes the wrong one and of course, the stroller attendants do move them around.

We just came back, and were using our City Mini Double (I think that's right?). My wife bought it used specifically for our Disney Trips (about 3 trips ago) and it's been great. We lock the back wheels, and have often found it moved as they "clean up" the stroller area. We've never had an issue of something missing or stolen, and we've left backpacks and bags with souvenirs sitting in it. We chose this model as it's a double and collapses really easy into something easily manageable.

It shouldn't be a big deal unless it is heavy. Each CM has probably moved at least several hundred. They will figure it out. If you are worried maybe a note on the handle but I don't see it necessary.

I think the chance of getting the stroller stolen is slim. Not worth buying or renting one for that low risk.

If I was flying in then I would definitly rent one but since I drive in from South Florida there is no need. I will take a chance with our stroller and just locking the rear 2 wheels together

We affix a bright ribbon on the handles of our stroller.

Makes it easier to locate after Cast Members move it.

Might also discourage theft.

Regarding theft - in the 12 (+/-) trips we've done with our child - we once had a backpack rifled though (no valuables inside).

I read a clever solution if you're really concerned - put cola into a diaper and hang this from a plastic bag from the stroller. Doubtful anyone will touch your stroller.

One other thing - if using Disney transportation, a folding umbrella-style stroller is much easier. Also, renting inside the Parks means you will not have a stroller getting back to your resort/car.

The cola in the diaper thing is an old "trick" and I doubt anyone falls for it anymore. Besides why in the world would you keep a dirty diaper tied to your stroller when there are garbage cans every ten feet? As a thief I would target your stroller. IT would take me 10 seconds to remove the bag and I would probably just leave it on the ground where your stroller was.
I have brought expensive, large, strollers to disney. The first time, we locked the back wheels for about a day. After that we just made sure it was in stroller parking and there were no valuables in it. If you think about how many families travel to disney every year and how many of those use strollers, the chance of yours getting stolen is pretty slim. Does it happen, I'm sure it does. Do I worry about it? Not really. Slightly more than a kidnapper finding out my kid's name from her mickey hat and using it to lure her away; but less than her letting go of the $30 balloon.
