Stroller Question

I need some help making a decision for our upcoming trip. I own a City Mini GT thanks to a great experience renting from Orlando Stroller Rentals and deciding I needed my own. I also have experience using an Ergo in the parks for lines, etc.

This fall will be my first trip with 2 kids: DD 4y3m and DS 9.5m.

Should I
a) bring just what I have and use the stroller for DS unless he needs to be worn because DD needs a nap
b) rent a second single stroller for another adult to push
c) leave my stroller at home rent a double?

I'm so hesitant to commit to a double because I'm afraid it will be a pain to be wider and heavier, or that my daughter will be walking more than riding.

Feedback appreciated!

I'd say rent a double stroller (city mini, or city mini GT), for a few reasons:

-Even though you may think your 4 y.o. DD will walk more than she rides, there is A LOT of walking to be done in the parks. Your daughter may be a great walker, but after a day or two of walking 2,3,or 4 miles around the parks, to and from transportation (cars, buses, monorails), around your resort, shopping, etc., etc., she may tucker out very quickly.

-Having a double stroller rather than a single can also help with mid-day naps (don't know if you plan to return to the hotel for naps, or just stay in the parks). If you plan to stay in the parks, having a double seated stroller with reclining seats can come in very handy for letting both kids sit/lay for naps (or watch parades).

-We've traveled a few times with a double stroller, and even though it will take a little while to adjust to a double as opposed to a single, it isn't difficult to navigate through crowds, stores, and the parks at all. And as you know, the City strollers are so easy to fold up for storage in your room or for transportation between the hotel and the parks.

-Even if, during the trip, you decide to carry your DS, the second seat can come in handy for hauling back-packs, souvenirs, etc.

-As a previous stroller renter, you know how convenient it is to have the stroller waiting for you when you check in at the hotel. If you're going to rent a single stroller, just rent the double and eliminate all the hassle of packing your single (or checking it if you're flying). Plus, if you rent, pay the extra couple of bucks for insurance to have the peace of mind that if the stroller is stolen you can 1) call the company and get a replacement immediately, and 2) not have lost your own personal stroller (that you'll need when you return home).

Just my $.02

Good luck with your decision.

I agree, I would just rent a double. We went in January with a 3yo and a 4.5yo and loved not dealing with a stroller in airport but being able to pick it up at bell services (used Orlando Stroller Rental and they were great). The 4.5 rode more than he walked even though he is pretty active. It was nice to have them both have a seat for the parades. Also, when it was really crowded it was nice to plunk them in and not worry that we would lose one of them. They also both napped during the afternoon so we didn't have to deal with going back to the hotel mid-day. We LOVED the City Mini GT - we have a city select at home and felt that this was super easy to navigate. I liked the bigger tires - smooth ride.

I'd rent a double. We still get a City Mini GT every time and my kids are 4 and almost 7. They both sit in the stroller a LOT. It also gives them a place to sit during parades and fireworks.
