Stroller Question

I am trying to decide if we should bring a stroller for my 4 year old. He is very petite and still LOVES to ride in his stroller. Since I would have to pay $15.00 each way for it (we are flying) I just wanted to see what people think? How much is it to rent one from WDW and is that a hassle?

Should I bring my cheaper umbrella stroller or my nice big stroller?

Thanks for any suggestions/information.:upsidedow

Are you sure your airline will make you pay? Last summer we were able to just check ours plane-side (right before we got on) for free. That helped in the airport too.
Mousesavers.com has some good info on renting vs bringing. It is 15 dollars/day unless you prepay I think. One tip to remember is that you may have to do a lot of walking just to get to the stroller rental (to the bus/ from the bus or car, into the park, out of the park, etc). Though your little one may be big enough to handle that. Mine was only 18 months last year, so it was bring a stroller or carry her!

It is $15/day for a single stroller or $13/day if you prepay the week. It's nice to have your own if your resort is big. We brought ours to SSR. Our airline gate checked the stroller at no charge. I preferred renting to lugging a stroller on a crowded bus.

check this dis budget board forum - look into stroller swaps... might help you out.

I called the airport to confirm and yes I can gate check it for FREE! I had no idea. I am trying to decide between our big stroller or a cheaper umbrella... I will check out the stroller thread too!

Our DS is 4 also and we're heading down in May. Last year we retired our old umbrella stroller, so this year I searched until I found a second hand, quality umbrella stroller.. (we found a Combi..but I was really hoping for a Maclaren or Peg Perego)... Having been to the World with a 4 year old before, I feel like a stroller is a must have, but it needs to be light, compact and easy to fold if you're doing alot of buses or monorail. I wouldn't trust a $15 umbrella stroller, maybe a stroller swap is a good alternative... That was my next choice, but I lucked out and got an almost new Combi for $30... Either way, have a great trip!

We are going with our four year old in September. I just did not want to lug a stroller through the airport along with everything else. I rented one in a stroller swap. It saved about $75 vs renting one at the park. Good luck and have fun princess:

was four on our last trip. She measures out a little above average height and about average weight at the pediatrician's office. We took an umbrella stroller. It's easy to take on the buses. We often stayed in the parks until 10:30-11:00 PM so she was pretty tired at the end of the night. (We did take midday breaks) The stroller came in handy in getting her back to the room at the end of the night.

My daughter is 6 yrs old and we still bring the stroller every year. She doesn't use it at home at all anymore but at Disney she will still use it. Much more walking than she would ever do at home. I purchased a decent, compact umbrella stroller and have used it for 3 years. It is small and light so it quickly folds up and has an attached shoulder strap. It is so easy to bring it everywhere including on and off of buses. It is well worth it. I wouldn't dream of leaving our room without it. Here is the website of mine in case you want it. http://www.chiccousa.com/gear/strollers/ct06-capri/ct06-capri-alaska.aspx I always check it under the plane at no charge. I would rather do this than rent. This way I have it at the airport and everywhere at Disney, not just the parks. Good luck.

that is not true they went up on prices, go check out the new prices I know it was $27 for the double to prepay for the week

Having just gotten home from WDW (4th trip in 4 years!), where I saw families struggling with large strollers on the monorail and trams, and unwieldy rentals at the crowded parks, I would recommend you bring a small, lightweight stroller. When DD was still in a stroller, I used to bring the MacLaren Volo and I saw a lot of MacClaren type strollers down there on this trip. I think it is worth the money to get something easy to fold up and carry throughout your trip. Check ebay.
