I'm new to this board, so not sure if this post is in the right place but was looking for advice. We are headed to Disney in Mid-July with a 2 year old and a 2 month old....we have a maclaren umbrella stroller for the 2 year old which she loves and will work great (used it for her at 11 months in disney and was soo perfect). Now I'm struggling on what to bring for the baby. Don't want to purchase a double bc i konw there will be times when we'll let our 2 year old walk and its a waste to push the double, plus i want to keep him out of the sun as much as possible. Was considering our infant carseat w/ the snap n go base as an option? What have other people done? Suggestions? We have hte big travel system stroller too but that's so bulky! i'm bringing the baby bjorn for him, but during the day he needs to be out of the sun (and i'll also melt carrying him n that too)! Any help is appreciated. We are siked to go, we are huge disney fans and go almost every year!

If it were me I would bring a double, I hate dragging 2 strollers. But, since you don't want to, I don't think I'd bring the seat and snap and go either, that seems like too much time for the little one to be in a carseat, I'd bring something that fully reclines. Do you have a fullsize stroller for the baby? I'd either bring that or purchase a lightweight stroller that fully reclines, like a Combi.

HTH!

Would you have the need for 2 singles at home after disney? You could rent a double jogging stroller from Orlando Stroller Rentals at a cheaper cost than Disney and the seats recline. I've heard that they are very easy to push. The other option is that you could join a stroller swap like I have (links in my signature below if you're interested).

I do have a question though. Don't you think it would be more difficult pushing 2 strollers, one empty sometimes, than 1 stroller.

If I were there in mid-July I definitely wouldn't want the baby in the carseat all day. I would worry it would get too hot in there. I would recline a seat and either buy a kiddopotamus sunshade and battery operated fan, or, drape a light receiving blanket over the top of the stroller and buy the fan.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. If you would like any info on the stroller swap send me a PM. the link to the stroller rental is orlandostrollerrentals.com

We just returned from a fabulous trip with our 3-year-old and our 2-month-old. After months of agonizing about strollers I decided to leave our double stroller at home and take two lightweight strollers and a baby sling. I'm so glad that I didn't bring the double (we have a Mountain Buggy Urban Double). The MBUD would have been a pain on the plane and on the Disney buses. We also split up several times, especially when I needed to dash over to the baby centre with the baby.

My solution was a Maclaren Quest for our eldest and a Rock Star Baby "Candy" stroller for the baby. The Quest has a partial recline for naps and a high weight limit, which made it perfect for our 3-year-old. The Quest is not suitable from birth, however, and the only Maclaren with a full recline was too expensive to buy just for this trip (we already have a great full-featured single at home). The Rock Star is a reasonably priced lightweight umbrella with a full recline. Just after I bought it Graco came out with an umbrella with a full recline (the IPO or something??) that also looks reasonable. I'll admit that the Rock Star does not push as nicely as a Maclaren, but the baby was so light that it wasn't really a problem.

The umbrella strollers were great for the buses. An umbrella is also compact enough that they let me take the baby's into the table service restaurants (generally strollers have to stay outside, but if you tell them the baby can't sit up and you have included the baby in your seat count when making your ADR they WILL let you remove a chair and park a compact stroller at the table).

I solved the sun issue with a fabulous product called a "Ray Shade". It completely shielded the baby when pulled down all the way. I can't recommend this enough.

I really didn't want the baby to spend the week in a car seat, given that doctors recommend they don't spend more than 2 hours a day in car seats (very hard on their spine). I was very happy with our stroller solution.

Hope this helps!

I just wanted to let you know that I took our stroller into the restaurants with DS and he was 14 months old. Granted, this was only when he was sleeping, but I didn't need it any other time. It's not considere "full-size" but it is part of a travel system that Graco puts out. It was great on the plane and the trams at WDW when we took them, full recline, and extremely easy to push.

It's the Graco MetroLite. I am not sure if it is sold seperately or only in a travel system. This is something I'll be researching when baby #2 is on the way. But, if you can get it seperately, I highly recommend it. I can fold it with one hand and put it into the trunk with baby in arms.

Stroller swap!!!

I would definitely do a double with a 2 year old and a newborn.

If you were to use the snap 'n go, your 2 month old would have to stay in the carseat for extended periods of time. Not only do babies need room to stretch out, but your LO will get very warm being confined in the carseat in the middle of July. I'd say go with a double stroller that allows for your youngest to recline and stretch out and have some room around him for air to circulate and keep him cool.
