My twins are getting older and I'd love to not always have to lug the double stroller around. Plus it would be great to reclaim my trunk. We have a Maclaren single stroller for our oldest, who really no longer needs it. I'd love to buy the Maclaren double but it seems silly to spend that much when we have functional strollers (Graco double and Maclaren single). My question is this- I know that there are clips you can buy to connect two umbrella strollers. Has anyone ever tried to connect two Maclarens using them? I really don't like umbrella strollers, but I do love the Maclaren. If I could use the one I have and only spend another $100 or so to buy another one, plus the connectors, it would be a whole lot cheaper than the $300 + double they offer. Has anyone tried this? How did you like it? Did it work well, was it a pain? Thanks in advance!

not sure if the clips will work for the Maclaren or not...
are you asking in reference to WDW, or the "real world"?... just asking, b/c you are teetering on that line of independence from strollers (woo hoo! )
my twins turned 3 in November, and it's still a blur, but if I remember correctly, it wasn't much more than 2.5 that we really got away from the stroller... they are rather independent, and would much rather walk everywhere-- if they are close to that stage, do you really want to sink that much into another Maclaren? (MHO)
now, going to WDW, we will be bringing the Combi Duo, and probably dusting off my single Peg, to boot!
good luck!

Wow, walking around WDW at 2.5yrs old? I'm impressed! My ds is nearly four and I wouldn't think of trying WDW w/out a stroller at this point. I just know I'd end up carrying him half the time, and my poor back couldnt take that. Plus, it's nice for containment, lol. Not to mention, having him walk everywhere would really slow us down (esp. when he wants to go a different direction!)

I can't answer your question about the connectors, but what about renting one from ABBF, or just renting at the park?

Just a thought.

We have taken a double stroller before and have also rented Disney's Double Stroller. While we had a few incidents where we needed to carry them when we rented...it was great to be free of our own stroller. Even with the kids at 5 and 3 we rented the stroller last time...it acted as their home base...they walked and they rode...

Had a quick thought for you....

Are you a member of a mother of twins club...ask to borrow one (I know I'd loan out my Combi Twin Savvy, but probably not my Schwinn Double Jogger). Or, think of the resale at the twin sale if you buy new. You'd get probably more than half of what you paid for it.... Or check out a "Once Upon a Child" store for a used one.

Just a thought. I'm a member of one in Cinci, and our sales are massive (topped $30,000 last fall with over 500 shoppers). I buy things with that in mind :)

We'll be going in February with 4 yr old twins, and we're actually waffling over our own stroller or renting. The twins told me they wanted me to take the jogger because it's the most comfy...But, yikes...lugging it around on transportation and at the airport....

I never did find a good local Moms of Twins Club around here. That would be a good place to look though. For four year olds, I would still bring one, at least the smaller one. We have taken my oldest at 22 months, 4, and 5. At four she logged a lot of hours in the stroller, especially towards the end of the trip. That is how we have the single Maclaren- we bought it specifically for that trip. We didn't want to waste the trunk space on bringing another full size stroller. We found a new in box single Maclaren on Ebay for a great price and we were so happy with it. DD used it a lot at four, much less at five. Our trip when she was five was much more relaxed though, due to the fact that everyone got sick while we were down there.

Thanks, I have heard of ABBF, but we were thinking for the "real world" as well as just WDW. Things like walking to the school near us to use the playground, etc.... it would be nice to have my trunk back from the Graco double. I'd probably still keep the Graco because it would be nice to have the large basket for things like a day at the zoo and such, but for most of the time I'm thinking I want something smaller.

That's part of my hesitation on buying a maclaren double. I don't want to spend $300 + on something that is just for infrequent use. They are independent and for some day trip kind of stuff we've really gotten away from the stroller since they want to be out and involved (childrens museum, etc....) but there are still times when it would be nice to have but not necessarily a huge double all the time. Case in point- we're thinking of going to Boston for a long weekend- we just found out that our museum pass has reciprocity at a bunch of science centers and childrens museums in and around Boston. So that is awesome, but when we go to Boston we don't like to drive. We take the T. A lot of T stops are not handicap accessible, so we have to cart the stroller around- a real pain. If we have something smaller it's a bit easier. As much as they will want to be out of the stroller while we are at Children's museums, etc.... I hold no delusions that they would make it through a whole day walking. DH and I would wind up carrying them. Also, my son has some sensory problems so sometimes the stroller is a good place for him to retreat when things get too much.

Sorry to have written a book here but I somehow missed that anyone had responded and just found the lone email in my inbox saying this thread had been responded to. Thanks everyone for the thoughts! :goodvibes
