Hi Folks, looking for some advice. DS will be 5 ( and 3 months) when we travel from Scotland. We are staying 3 weeks in July. He’s to old for a stroller/buggy at home so we haven’t owned one for a while. That said, given the amount of walking we will do in the July heat we will no doubt need one for our trip. He is just under 40 inches tall and slightly built. We took our DD when she was just over 5 a few years back and just rented the park strollers daily but wondered if we are better renting from an outside company or buying one when we arrive. Are there strollers that are suitable for a kid of that age to rent/buy ? Any advice ? Ideally we would like one that is comfortable enough for him to have a nap in and easy enough to take on and off the buses etc. We are not renting a car

Many thanks

I bring my own from home, but if I were you I would rent one from an outside vendor. Most have the city mini or a bob stroller. Personally I like my city mini and think it is easier to use with a lot of crowds (I happen to own both a bob and a city mini). The only caveat to that is if you want your child to nap, then I happen to think the bob is better for older kids that will need a nap. You can rent and pick up from the airport with kingdom strollers. Or have it delivered to your Disney hotel room with scooterbug. You can read more about the many different rental options at mouse savers. The one thing to keep in mind is that Disney now only allows delivery from scooterbug so if you are staying at a Disney resort you need to rent from them if you want it delivered, get it from one of the ones you can do pick up at the airport, or if your renting a car and staying off site then you have a lot of options. I wouldn’t buy for that short a time, but that’s me. There are umbrella strollers like the maclaren that can accommodate a child you kids size. Actually probably most depending on weight. So that would be another option for you. Good luck!

Thanks very much. Never heard of Scooterbug but a quick look at some of their reviews are not very good. 🙈

Just to clarify, would Kingdom Strollers deliver to a resort ( Im staying at FQ then YC) and then collect if I am there to meet them ?

We took our own for several years then it went missing in MK so had to buy another (around $50 from Super Target). We used it until my nephew was 9 years old! His knees were round his ears, but it was so much better than lots of moaning/crying due to all the walking back and forth across the parks. We also come from the UK and when you are in the parks for 16-17 days it's very tiring. It also comes in handy though to hold drinks, sweaters, sun cream etc.

that appears to be the issue now - Disney changed their policy so now you can’t get them delivered except from that company. Not sure why they did that nor why they choose scooterbug. There are two companies that offer pickup at the airport, including kingdom strollers. Again, I always bring my own so I can’t vouch for any of the rentals nor the ease for picking them up at the airport now. Sorry I can’t be of more help with that.

When our little ones were little, we brought our own strollers. The airlines are very accommodating. Have a great time

You CAN get strollers delivered to your resort from other companies, including Kingdom Strollers, as long as you are physically present during drop off and pick up. The policy change referenced by a previous poster was just in regards to Bell Services holding strollers/wheelchairs. Scooterbug is the only company that Disney allows to drop off/turn in strollers with Bell Services rather than scheduling a drop off and pick up time to meet the vendor. Any other company you can still have delivered, you just have to physically be there for delivery and pick up at whatever time they arrange.

Since you are staying for 3 weeks, I would compare the costs of renting with the costs of buying. It may be cheaper to just buy a stroller and bring it with you. Gate check it at the airport for free (or purchase through Amazon and have delivered to your resort; I think there's a couple dollar fee to have packages delivered to the resort, but it's not much) and sell it after the trip.

See my post above. The reason why they limited it to one vendor is because Bell Services became so busy holding and trying to keep track of strollers/wheelchairs/ECVs from multiple vendors that it took up a lot of their time and resources. It also required a lot of physical space to store these strollers/wheelchairs/ECVs while waiting to be picked up by the customer and then later until the vendor picked them up. It was easier on Disney to have just one vendor authorized to drop off and pick up at Bell Services. Any other company can still deliver, you just have to meet them at the resort.

Kingdom Strollers does drop off and pick up at the Orlando Airport. Get a BabyJogger Citi Mini GT. Our 45 lb six year old was fine in it and fell asleep in it on the way back from fireworks. It’s very easy to collapse and carry on a bus, good sunshade, comes with rain cover, and is easy to push with one hand,

Definitely rent a stroller. We have used Orlando Stroller Rental before and Kingdom rental and they were super affordable and delivered to our resorts.
