My DG does not want to fly with a stroller. Period. So we rent one from a rental company or buy one and ship it to/ from hotel.
Wwyd?

How old is the child who will be using the stroller? Will you need the stroller to and from the hotel or just while in the parks?

I'm having the same issue, though DD is 4 and should be able to handle things. I just dread the walk to the hotel late at night with 2 exhausted kids. I would rent one from a local company, unless of course you don't need one to and from the hotel and just need it for the parks.

2 daughters. 5.5 and 2 weeks shy of 3. Both are small girls. Odd is too tall for an umbrella stroller.
To and from hotel is my concern.

Hmm. You know your kids best, but I'm thinking the 5 1/2 year old will be fine walking. We didn't use strollers for our kids at Disney after age 4, but I realize that while that worked for my kids it doesn't work for everyone's. If the 3 year old is really going to need to be in a stroller for the walk to and from the hotel and an umbrella stroller won't work, then I'm thinking you'll need to rent from an outside company. If your younger daughter is small and you are staying at a close walking distance hotel, (my personal definition of this is no further than Candy Cane Inn or Hojos), then you may suggest to DH that daughter can alternately walk and be carried by DH between the hotel and park and use a Disney stroller in the parks. I had friends who stayed at Hojos with us during one of our trips. Their youngest daughter was 4 and quite the trooper, but my friend's husband actually didn't mind carrying her back to the hotel in the evenings. Again, I realize this doesn't work for everyone.

I'm betting my 5.5 year old will be good walking most of the time. But at night she might get tired. My 3 year old will need to ride or be carried. Maybe ydd can be carried at night and oldest can ride. I'm thinking 1 stroller will do the trick...

We did no stroller our 1st trip, when dd was 3... the worst part is from the hotel to the parks and back... and we took naps during each day, so times 4. By day 2, we were carrying her, and by day 3, we were more sore from carrying her than anything else. I'd rent a stroller if you really can't bring yours from home.

We've got a Phil & Teds double, and the carrying case for it. I would rather take the time and pack it away at the gate and gate check it then deal with not having our own stroller. Especially after seeing some people struggling with the DL strollers, and not being able to take them out of the park.

The extra 5 minutes at the gate and security is worth it IMO.

My son is 5 and daughter is 3 and we will be taking the stroller again in march when we go.

There is a rental company in LA that rents baby jogger city mini doubles. I'd go that route. Honestly? I have a 6 year old I'm bringing a stroller for because she gets TIRED and whiny and it's not fun!

My DH was the same...no stroller, we'll rent one there, blah, blah, blah because he hates checking the stroller and waiting for it at the airport. I politely considered his opinion and then said "we are taking our stroller."

After 2 trips with our own stroller (DD was 5 and 5.5 at the time) my DH is a stroller convert and told me that I made the right decision!

Remind your DH that you won't be able to pack-up the stroller the night before with snacks, sweatshirts, water, etc. Also, you can't bring the Disney rental strollers through DTD. And we would have had to wake up so much earlier to walk with my daughter from Hojo's to the gates. She just jumped in her stroller and ate cheerios while we briskly walked to the gates with our stroller all packed up and ready to go for the day!

Bring it! You won't regret it once you are there!

You can gate check strollers, so you don't have to wait for them with the luggage. They are right there when you get off the plane. I know you said he said no to bringing them, but it is what I would do, hands down. I've carried a 5 year old back to HoJo. It's not fun.

This is what we did. I second it as the best way to go. It also made getting through the airport easier.

I agree. Ours made to Orlando and back. It made navigating the airport easier, and gate checking it is super easy.

My DH said the same thing about bringing our double stroller. DD will be 8 when we go next, DS will be 4. But, we are going with another family, so if the 4 parents had the one double stroller, and their single, we could carry all our crap to and from hotel, and 3 kids who don't want to walk. DD is getting a little big for the stroller, but I think she would like to be able to sit for a couple minutes if she's too tired to walk. I also reminded the hubs that $15/day for a stroller adds up to a lot of Mickey ice cream bars for me, and chocolate bananas for him!

Our last 2 trips we've used strollers.

Trip 1:

DS had just turned 4. We fly down and stay with family in El Toro, so we borrowed an umbrella stroller from them. The stroller made things so much easier. DS was able to ride everywhere, only getting out to eat and get in line for rides, etc.. The stroller folded up nice and compact for riding on the trams, and trains. I think we even took it on the monorail!

Trip 2:

Stayed with family again. This time we had DS 1 month shy of 7, and DD just turned 3. Umbrella stroller had gone missing from the family's house, so we drove to Target and bought 2 umbrella strollers for $15-$18 each. Again, they were a godsend! We used them everywhere and didn't have to hear any "i'm tired, carry me" for the 4 day Disney trip. At the end of the trip we left them with the family (retired couple). Hopefully at least 1 of them will still be there for our next trip. If not, we'll be buying another stroller!

I would be giving it all I had to convince DH that our own stroller needed to go with us. A) Makes navigating the airport that much easier B) It's FREE to take on the plane. C) You can pack it up at your hotel room with all your crap D) You can take it to/from park and hotel, which, IMO, is the most crucial part.

If you really decide that's not happening, then I would for sure rent from an outside company. Hauling two kids and a day's worth of stuff to/from park (especially at the end of the day when EVERYONE is exhausted) without a stroller is awful. I would consider renting a double. Little legs get tired and I cannot carry, even my 9 month old all the way back to the hotel.

We have a cheapy stroller, I may see if my long legged 5 yr old fits in it, then I may just buy 2 then regift them to another family! We have to run to target anyway b/we will buy water and snacks

Do you rent a car? If not, how do you get to Target?
