So, we are taking our 2.5 year old for her first visit to Disney about 2 weeks before her 3rd birthday. We are going with my 4.5 year old stepson and his mother. They are flying, we are driving.

SS has a maclaren triumph for the trip. Weven have a smaller umbrella that doesn't recline, so we are looking for a more suitable lightweight stroller that won't take up much room in the car (our main stroller is WAY too big). We wanted to spend less than $80, so we're originally looking at the first years insight. But we have three other options, used:

2011 Maclaren Triumph
2010ish Combi Cosmo EX
Older Maclaren Twin Techno

1) we are both tallish. Well, hubby is taller, but I have wrist issues that mean a tallish handle is better for me. A regular umbrella is very uncomfortable, but the new combi at BRU was OK height-wise.

2) My daughter likes to nap in her stroller. She looked OK in the new Combi at BRU, so we are definitely looking for a decent recline.

3) this is Disney, and my daughter is a snacker. The combi's cupholder is a nice touch, but we can always buy a cup holder and/or snack cup attachment. Mostly, we need a decent storage area. I like having a cup holder too. I know it is an umbrella stroller so I don't expect as much as I have with the beast from our travel system, but still.

4) we obviously need something easy to fold/unfold. We will have 3 adults and 2 kids, so we aren't outnumbered, but will still have monorail and busses to maneuver

5) we are considering the twin because my stepson's mom will be taking both kids to a meal or two, and this is a REALLY good idea. We also may be contemplating the idea of another child, so having a double may be used in the future, so it is an investment too.

I'm so picky, lol, but I'm wondering what people think? A new, less expensive stroller ($50-$80) or a used Mac/Combi/Twin for similar price (45-65)? And which one would you recommend? I wish we had space to bring the double and a single! Lol.

Thanks,
Kate

I should say that hubby loved the combi at BRU. I'm leaning towards the Maclaren (all they had was a Quest when we went, which he thought was too bulky). We are checking out his ex's Triumph tonight, so he can really compare the two before we buy something, but I want to hear from folks who have brought these (any of them!) To Disney! Things can seem great in the store, but may have different performance in real life.

Thanks,
Katr

Out of those, I'd get the used Mac triumph. Maclarens have a longstanding good reputation.

I would also look for a used Baby Jogger City Mini. Not an umbrella, but fairly lightweight and they have an outstanding canopy. My Craigslist tends to have them for about $100 so it may be out of your budget.

No personal experience with any of them though, sorry. (We had a Cybex Onyx for dd last time we went and it was a very good stroller, but it is out of your price range new and they are not easy to find used.). You might check the stroller subforum at the baby bargains book forums for reviews/advice. Strollerqueen reviews are good too.

We used and loved the First Years Ignite Stroller at Disney with our DD2. Excellent handling, reclines, and then we bought Jansport Big Student Back Pack in the matching color which draped perfectly over the handles.

I think you would want a double of some sort incase your stepson wants to take a "break". Have you thought about renting a double from one of the stroller companies who deliver to Orlando hotels/resorts. For the most part they use city mini strollers. I just booked one for myself for $77 and we are staying a week. Out of the ones you listed my recommendation would be Maclaren double

The sites for stroller rentals would be:
Baby Wheels Orlando
Orlando stroller rental
Kingdom strollers
Magic Strollers

My stepson's mom will be bringing his triumph, so he will have that if we don't get the double.

I tried out the strollers again, and my only debate now is:

Maclaren handles better and is easier to fold and may last a bit longer, height wise.

The combi has more recline and a snack tray.

Grrrrrr!
