My sister is going to be attending my Disney wedding this April (15-19th), and her daughter will be 7 months at the time. She is wondering if she should plan to just rent a stroller, or should she pack and bring hers from home. We live in PA, and plan to fly, so if she doesn't need to take it she would rather not. What have others done?

Thanks!
Cari

HI,
WE took my twins to wdw for the first time at age 14 mos and even then, i'm glad we brought our own. She is not going to want to schlep a baby w/out a stroller through airports and travel. If it's a lightweight one like a maclaren then it's especially worth it. I"d even consider buying one of the more less expensive maclarens at target. completely worth it IMHO. Just my two cents.hth :)sss

I would definitely bring my own. Saves the money from renting plus you know the baby is use to that stroller (and so is your sister).

Not sure if you meant renting in the parks or renting from a local company.

I would not rely on a Disney rental stroller. They can only be used in the parks, so they will not have a stroller to use at the resort. After several hours in a park it was very nice to have a stroller to push the kids back to the room especially if they fell asleep.

Also, the Disney strollers are a hard plastic and I don't think would work well for an infant.

At that young of an age, I probably wouldn't have needed a stroller. If your sister is used to carrying her baby in a sling or front carrier, the stroller might not be a necessity. But if she usually uses a stroller it definitely is.

If you are flying out of Philly...you need the stroller just for that.

Take your own and gate check it. It will be waiting for you when you exit the flight.

My son is 5 and I still take ours....he is a runner...it is too big there and I just don't feel safe.

100%, bring your own...and this comes from someone who is a religious renter. I flew with my older daughter when she was 9 months old and there was no way I could navigate the airports without our stroller.

Another vote for bringing her own! My arms are tired just thinking about carrying a 7 month old everywhere!

We went when my DD was 4 mos, and we didn't bring our own. We rented from Orlando Stroller.

Certainly it was a little hard to carry & entertain her in the airport, but I did have help (my sister).

We're planning to go next December when DD is 2 + a little, and I think we would rent from Orlando again. I hate my stroller and would not want to lug it around at the parks. The jogging strollers they have at Orlando are wellllll worth it!

Bring your own! Lots of walking in airports, tons of walking in the resorts before you get to the parks... I recommend an umbrella stroller for easy folding/getting on/off buses and monorail. Good luck, have fun!

One more vote for bringing their own stroller and a baby carrier. The Disney rentals are not good for a baby that little (not enough support/comfort for the baby to nap etc). I would definitely also bring a carrier for waiting in lines. A baby that size gets heavy very fast and a sling/carrier will make life a lot easier. We took my little one for the first time when he was 12wks old and he basically spent the whole time in a carrier and napped when he needed and it worked well.

Definitely bring one. If she is worried about the one she has being too big (some people like to travel with smaller ones), tell her to either buy a smaller one (Maclaren Volo's are awesome for traveling, as well as any other Maclaren model) or to rent one from Orlando Stroller Rentals (you probably have a link right on this page). OSR will deliver the stroller to your resort. If money is a concern, I suggest buying a used Maclaren, and then reselling it after the trip, unless she wants to keep it for future traveling, or just buying a cheap travel sized umbrella stroller with a sun shade.
