Our DD will be 9 months old when we go to WDW at the end of the month. We've got a Mac Quest which we really love, but I'm wondering if it might be better to bring a slightly bigger (more comfortable?) stroller such as a Graco (I have a friend who has one that's a few years old we could borrow). She already doesn't sleep in our Mac, and I want her to be comfortable and have enough room since she'll be in it a lot of the time we're down there. I'd love to get some opinions from other parents of older babies as to which kind of stroller we should bring.

Thanks!

We used our Mac Quest for DS when he was 6 months and at 14 months. It was perfect. I couldn't have imagined bringing our Chicco Cortina, which is bigger and heavier when trying to get on the bus (although we used our rental car most of the time) or going through airport security. The recline is perfect for the naps for DS....I wonder why you LO won't sleep...that could be a bit of a problem. But considering the baby really can't "use" the room as they are 5 pt harnessed in, I personally don't see that as a plus. My only change would be the storage basket. A bigger one that is an bit easier to access would be nice.

The Graco Metrolite is a FANTASTIC stroller for any age...we've owned two and at the infant to 4yrs. it's been great, especially for traveling. It's very lightweight, folds down easily, great price, nice parent tray, reclines all the way and is wide for them to get comfy and sleep in, nice basket underneath, nice canopy and snack tray for little one. I highly recommend it. It's also very durable...we're on to our second one because the first one was used by our older two and our last baby deserved something new! :goodvibes

Thanks for the reply :) DD just really likes sleeping in her bed and when there are things to look at she'd rather do that. I think we're planning on returning to our resort in the afternoon though, so even if she doesn't get much of a morning nap she'll get one a day. So you don't think the lack of cup holders/lack of baby tray (for snacks and such)/lack of storage is reason enough to go with a bigger stroller? There will be four adults and we'll be renting a car, so I don't see it's largeness (is that a word?) being a major problem.

We made a few minor adjustments to the Mac before our trip. First, we got the sippy cup straps..http://www.target.com/SippiGrip-Tod...UTF8&index=target&rh=k:sippy cup strap&page=1. Those are nice because DS is in throwing stage. Then we got this in place of a snack tray...... http://www.amazon.com/Kiddie-Kangar...ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1225586680&sr=1-2 They are nice because you can still fold up the stroller with it attached. We also had just the basic Mac neoprene organizer that they have, so that was all we needed. Those minor purchases gave us what we needed for DS with the ease of the Mac.

We traveled when my DS was 13 months and used our Graco Metrolite. It was great to maneuver through the parks, very easy on the monorail and getting onto the trams because we too had a rental car. I don't know what your stroller looks like but if it doesn't have a big storage compartment or cupholders I'd definitely opt for a stroller that does have one. You'll want to bring lots of things with you (camera/diaperbag/baby gear) and will not want to be lugging it all. I guess it depends on the stroller that your friend is willing to let you borrow. If it's a Metrolite, definitely take it, but if it is one of the bigger Graco like the Quattro Tour, I don't know how heavy they are.

I guess it doesn't matter if you have a rental though.

Enjoy your trip!

We're taking our 13.5 month old on his 5th trip later this month, and this will be the first time that we don't bring our graco quattro- you know, the big one from the travel system. We have a maclaren triumph but the storage on it stinks for WDW needs. We bought a graco literider and we're really excited to use it- it has the big basket like the big stroller, but it's much lighter and strolls quite easily. It also has the full recline that the triumph does not have.

We just got back and took our Peg Pliko P3 and DD loved it! She took many naps in it, while harnessed in. We simply loosened the harness to give her room to move around while sleeping. We added the Rayshade which helped to block out some light and sound while she was sleeping. It manuevered really well and had plenty of storage underneath.

Yes Yes Yes to the BIGGER stroller! I went through so much back and forth as to which stroller to bring, right up until packing the car! I finally decided on my BIG ole Evenflo one and it was perfect. I just couldn't imagine DS sleeping without reclining all the way and for me the cup holders and snack tray was a must! Let me tell you, we used every bit of available storage space on the thing too! I even got those clips that attach to the handles and you can hang extra bags off.

I did not regret bringing the bigger stroller on bit. We did rent an SUV though. Make sure you'll have room in the car for eveything :)

We went in July when DS was 9 months old. We took our Peg Perego Pliko P3. It was a great stroller because DS was able to fully recline to nap while at the park on several occasions. We were at BRU over the weekend to look at possible light-weight strollers for our upcoming trip in a few weeks and looked at the Mac and couldn't justify spending that much on something that doesn't have the snack tray or reclines fully like his Peg.

We folded our Peg for the bus rides to our hotel. Yeah we got looks from people (god forbid we take a stroller on board!!) but after checking out the light-weight strollers at the store this weekend our DS's comfort is way more important than what others think during our 10 minute bus ride.

We're thinking of borrowing a Graco Alano for our trip now. I don't think it reclines all the way, but it's still bigger than the Mac. ANyone have any experience with this stroller?

we always bring our mac! We will be bribing two with us in december. One for each of our kids... Daughter 4 and son 1. They do not losses all the stroller thrills and extras but they are so worth it to take and fold up on those crowded buses! The only thing I would say is to make sure you bring a backpack along since there is little storage and they tip if you load the back with bags etc. But I reccommend your mac highly. Have a great trip!:cool1:

On the one hand I think its a good idea to bring the one you know and love. On the other, I would go buy this one:

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2671817

It has everything you need, like cupholders and a big basket. Its lightweight enough to tote one handed and at that price, you wont worry about it every time you leave it unattended (which is why I wouldnt borrow your neighbors).

We're definitely not going to go buy one. We're either going to bring our Mac or borrow a Graco Alano. I'm just wondering if anyone HAS an Alano and can tell me if they like it.

We are going in December and will be taking this stroller with us. My son has ridden in this stroller since he was 4 months old and loves it. It reclines enough for him to nap comfortably. And while the storage basket isn't huge, we don't plan on storing a whole lot down there (maybe jackets). We've got a backpack we'll hang on the back for all my sons diapers/food/sippy cups etc.

If I were you, I'd take the McClaren (as it looks similar to the above Graco).

We have a Mac and love it, but when DS was a baby, I bought my big Evenflo and it worked out great for us. Plus when it rained, I would recline it fully and scoot him back to make sure he stayed under the canopy, then I put the rain cover on too.

When he was 3, I bought the Mac and have been using it ever since.

I liked having the extra storage & cup holders when he was smaller.

The way I look at the bulky stroller on the bus is that first of all, I take the kid so the stroller is DH's problem. :rotfl2: Second, you don't spend a ton of time on the bus, you spend a ton of time in the parks with the kid in the stroller. As soon as we get on the bus, DH makes his way to the back doors and pretty much just stands in the doorway. That way he's not taking up a seat and he can get off the bus quickly. I just meet him when we get off the bus.
