Stroller for older child UPDATE!

I still think that this type of thing is more of a stroller than a wagon, I hope you won't have any trouble. You just need to act confident at the gates like you KNOW you can take it in and if you get quesitoned, site the name and date of the supervisor you spoke with getting permission. And if that still doesn't work - insist on a rental! I'm off to find a picture of this thing!
If it pulls behind, it is a wagon and fits their definition of items that are not allowed.
There are safety reasons for not taking wagons. Since they are low to the ground and in back of the person pulling it, people trip on things pulled behind.
MK is very tight and congested. It's tough enough to get thru with a wheelchair. I can't imagine tryinng to pull something behind that is bigger than my DD's wheelchair.

I think I'd get written confirmation. Send an email citing the exact one (maybe even include a picutre) you are bringing. then print out the response. So that when/if you get questioned you have something to show them. Even though they are always telling people wrong stuff on the phone and in emails if you have it printed and in writing saying you are taking this exact model into the park and it is okay then hopefully they will have to honor it rather than "well so and so said I could" then even if they bother to contact that person they deny it.

Disney doesn't like pull behind anything because the person steering cant watch what is being pulled. It doesnt have much to do with what the thing being pulled is. However since this has the appearance of a stroller who knows they may not think twice about it.

About the jogging stroller...I thought those weren't allowed either. In the info another person posted it says no 2 or 3 wheeled conveyances. I'm not sure though.

So how did they fit in it. I was looking at the picture and thought it surely doesnt look like much leg room. I have two squabblers and I'm sure they would have constantly been kicking eachother.

Since Ours wanted to walk a lot of the time we took one stroller with us last time. We could put our bags in it when the kids weren't using it. They could each take a break from walking in it. And it was light weight. When we went when they were 4 and 6 we took one stroller that was a little more than an umbrella stroller in that it had a basket under it and we took an umbrella stroller that only went in the parks in the evening and spent most of its time folded up wedged into the other one. This was for when both the kids were tired in the evening, being sluggish walking, or fighting crowds as we could put them both in the strollers and be sure they stayed put and didnt get separated from us. Of course we drove to the parks mostly so we weren't dealing with getting the strollers on off buses much. I loved two strollers since then they couldnt touch each other and as I said I could leave one behind in the mornings when they were full of energy and would only want an occasional ride.

I had started a thread like this several years ago, I recieved a TON of :furious: flames about it. I personally think that having a stroller available for them to sit in is not a bad thing. Disney as we all know is a LOT of walking and kids get tired. I think it's a great idea! This is the first year that I will not be renting a stroller for my older two. Last time we went they were 6 and 10. This year I think they should be just fine, if not, I'll rent away!

be sure to tell them that it is a wagon. If you just send a picture, it may not look like a wagon.
Also, even if you do have an eamil saying it was OK, people at the parks are still the final deciders and can say no.

I have seen people who brought pull behind coolers and :crazy2: full size suitcases that they pulled behind them. I've seen people tripped by them because they don't see them in the crowds and the person pulling them can't see/watch where they are pulling it. I have seen CMs stop the 'pullers' and tell them they need to carry the item. They do as long as the CM can see them and then put it back donw and pull it.

The ones that are a problem are the ones with a single large wheel in the front. Even if it swivels, it still sticks out so far. A lot of jogging strollers have a smaller swivel wheel or a set of small swivel wheels. I think they have the language in their website so people don't bring them and it also allows them to say it's not allowed if it is the non-swivel type.
Of course we drove to the parks mostly so we weren't dealing with getting the strollers on off buses much.
The wagon looks like it would not be easy or quick to fold up.

We've seen this in the store and it was huge! Not something I'd want to pull around WDW all day. We were looking into the other new Fisher Price Stroller, the Stand n Ride Duo ( http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=900002&e=storeproduct&pid=35969&section=pop_activegear ) and saw the KUV while we were at BRU. We ended up not getting the Stand n Ride for a variety of reasons, which I'll list in case you or anyone is interested since it's a similar stroller to the KUV. First it got terrible reviews. We went to test it out and it turned horribly-it just slid rather than actually turning (and this was with my small kids in it-then 2yo daughter who is 28 lbs. and 38 inches, and my son was about 3 or 4 months and 16 lbs.). It was huge, easily the length of a front/back double stroller. It was difficult to fold and pretty heavy to lift/carry. The seat only had 1 recline position and the seat itself did not feel very comfortable.

After all of the testing we did with it - and believe me there was a lot cause I loved the concept, the storage bag, etc. - we scrapped that and the other Sit n Stand types and bought a Peg Perego Centro Completo, which has a standing board on the back for our daughter (now 3yo) to ride on. A bigger board than the Pliko P3 in case anyone wants to compare. With the ages of your kids I wouldn't recommend this stroller simply cause it's expensive (about $300) and your 4yo probably wouldn't get much use out of it.

What I'd probably do if I were you is just take your single stroller and have your boys take turns when the older one gets tired or if they're both tired then rent one for your older son. I just don't think your 6yo will use a stroller that much to warrant buying something that may or may not be allowed.

I rented a double stroller for my dd's who were in grades 2 and 3 at the time of our trip. My daughters did not look silly in the stroller at all. There is a lot of walking at the parks and they did manage to get exercise while we we at Disney. I felt at ease not worrying where my children were and not having to pull them through crowds of people, where at times they could have been easily seperated from us.. To each his own. Safety and my childrens well being is my first issue. By the way the strollers that they rent at all of the Disney parks are amazing. They are huge and it almost seems as if they are made for older children. Once again , my children hardly looked silly and I saw many children the same ages in strollers. The multiple day rental passes are really reasonable as well.

Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know. I still may buy it b/c I take dd's for walks and have yet to find a double stroller they can both fit in comfortably.

Hi Everyone, I was thinking of an alternitive:

What if you use the stroller you have for your DS4 and buy a single one for your DS6. The advantage to that is that you could split up if you and your husband want to take the kids on a different ride. Also, it's not really that much of a pain to push and may be easier to navigate than one giant one. And if he decides he doesn't want it for a while you could "park" it outside of a ride and pick it up later.

I bought the Chicco C6 for our last trip. My DD was 6. She fit in that one much better than anyone that I tried (I went to every store possible to try as many as I could) and she wasn't squished on the sides and her legs were able to rest on the foot rest so much easier than the others.

I absolutely recomend bringing a stroller even for bigger kids. My daughter is lean and muscular (gymnastics will do that to you!) and she by no means is lazy but in that heat and humidity even I was tired after a short while. We are from Massachusetts and we just aren't used to it! I was sore every night from walking and I can't imagine how a little person that would have to take 2 steps for my every one would feel. I did not keep my daughter out late (except for one night for EMH-which I will NEVER do again-I never saw such lines) and so she wasn't kept out late and was still exhausted by the end of the day. (and we didn't do commando style either)

So anyway, just a suggestion. Good luck finding something that works for you!

Hi everyone I am back!:wave2:

Well I tested the stroller/wagon last night with both boys in it. While talking to my husband on the phone on his way home we had decided that we would keep it and even if it was not allowed in the park we would have it to use in the summer for outings around us. We have 3 great zoos around us, 2 large amusement parks and many "things" that come to our area (hot air balloon festivals, etc...) so we knew it would be put to use at some other time. Well after testing it out it is put back in the box and heading back to the store! I HATE IT!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE strollers. I have 3 different single strollers, a duo-glider, a side / side, and a sit and stand. I love my side/side and that is what we used last time we went to disney. As stated before my older son just got to long for it. If not we would be bringing it again this time. So after using 6 different strollers I must say this one is probably close to the bottom of my list of strollers (I really do not like the front/back duo-glider It is a BEAST!). THere are some great things about it but also some not so great things. Hopefully since this is the first like it they will continue to work on it and get a really good model out in the future. Here are some of the pros/cons with it.

CONS:
This thing is a beast! It is loooong and heavy with the kids in it. I could not imagine pulling 135 pounds of children in it. Combined my kids weigh 87-90 pounds

It is VERY hard to pull and turn corners. I could not imagine having to move it around in a crowd! I was banging into things just in my living room and kitchen and I do not have a small house!

You could probably push it for a few feet but you eventually do have to pull it.

It feels like your arm is going to pop out of the socket after pulling for a while b/c it takes A LOT of energy/muscle to get it to turn properly.

The wheels stick out pretty far so it is VERY wide.

If this matters to you, there is no storage places at all.

Both kids face each other so in the 15 minutes of "test driving" we heard many "I want to put my foot in that spot" and "move your feet away from my feet." Now that could just be my kids and others could not have that type of bickering going on. I can not stand whining and bickering so the few minutes of hearing this back and forth complaining ,plus bumping into the wall everytime I tried to leave one room and enter another and the stopping to rub my shoulder everytime I had to lift, turn, re-turn, push back, pull forward, turn again, curse silently in my mind and then finally get around a corner was enough to say (ok kinda yell) "ok both of you out of this thing!" LOL

There are some pros so I hope they eventually figure it out.

Pros:
My 6yr old fit GREAT IN IT!! He has lots of room in the seat. Room to spare!

The space for their legs is very large. Their legs do not touch and they look very comfy in it.

Each child has their own sun cover/umbrella that you can either put on or take off.

It folds VERY easy!

It has back clasps to buy a backpack and hang off the back. That could be your "storage."

Minus the large size it is very nice looking.

That is all I can think of right so so if you have any questions let me know.

Thanks everyone for you thoughts. I may either do the jogging stroller thing or bring one stroller with a small umbrella stroller and tuck it in the bottom of the other like one poster said. Our even just rent a double. Aren't the strollers that disney rents out "jogging stroller types?" Oh well, I have under 8 weeks to figure it out. But no matter what my 6 year old will have something to ride in when he needs it. :)

This may be exactly what we do! Thank you! The best way to describe my son is long and lean. He is that type where if he has an illness and does not eat for a few days he looks like skin and bones by the end. A few pounds lost on him makes a big difference.

We rented the double stroller last summer at WDW. Outside of WDW my boys don't use strollers but I can tell you they both jumped at the chance to ride last year. They were 5 and 8. It was summer and they were tired. It made our trip much more enjoyable. I will not hestitate to do the same thing this summer.

As for double strollers with a lot of room, check out the Peg Perego Tender Twin. I wouldn't go out and spend money on a new one for a part time vacation stroller, but you might get one on Ebay reasonably.

This stroller has a lot of room. We bought it when our oldest was 4. She is tall and we needed a stroller that would have enough room for her. The DuoGlider was out, as were all the other tandem doubles. However, the front seat of the Tender Twin has a ton of room. Now, this isn't a small stroller by any means, but it folds easily for a big tandem, is easy to push, and is a workhorse. It has served us very well. Our daughter is now 8 and she fell asleep in that stroller many a night on our last trip to WDW back in November. Granted, she couldn't have been all that comfortable, but as a place for her to catch a quick respite from walking, or to fall asleep in at 9:30 at night after exhausting herself walking the parks all day it still did a fine job.

Kailani6~We are also from MA!! What part are you in?

We are out near Worcester. Where are you from? (It's a small world!)
I can't wait till we get to Florida. At the rate the weather is going, maybe we won't come back!!

We are near Sharon, Norton, Canton, etc...Unlike you we are in the spot that is not getting any snow!!! We have had MAYBE 3 inches TOTAL all winter. And that is if you added each and every dusting together. My kids have not been able to wear their snowpants or make a snowball all winter.

I'm from MA too! :wave2:

I have been reading this thread with interest, as I was condsidering the Kid Utility Vehicle for my girls (ages 5 and 1.5) too. (Mostly for walks to the park, trips to the zoo, farm - do you go to Davis Farmland? - and our annual trek to Storyland in NH.) I also test drove it, and decided it was way too bulky and cumbersome to deal with. Plus, I would have had trouble pulling 75 pounds of child.

I'm now looking at double joggers. I might go with an MBUD, but they are so pricey. May just go with the Instep that I saw at BRU. But make sure to get one with a swivel wheel. Some of them are just straight on, which is really hard to steer.

Anyway, thanks for your review. I agree with everything you said. Good concept, but they need to work it out still.

We do go to Davis Farmland! My boys love it there. Their favorite part is the HUGE sandtower thing and milking the cow. LOL I think the KUV would be horrible there. What part of MA are you in? !
