Hi everyone. Hopefully one of you can help me. Last time we went to Disney both my sons were able to sit in a side by side stroller. But since the last trip my older son is to long for the stroller. We were/are going to rent a double Disney stroller but now I am feeling like the $100+ it will take to rent one may be better spent buying a new one. My only problem is finding one that will fit a child that is 53 pounds and long. Everything I see is upwards of $300+ and that is a little silly since we will only really need it for this trip (maybe a trip or two this summer). But, at least I get to bring it home. LOL

I need something with a cover. Both my sons HATE the feeling of the hot sun beating down on their heads after a while (unless we are at the beach). Anyone know of a stroller that will fit this description?? ANY help at all will be greatly appreciated.

My step daughter is pretty tall...she is 7...but she still likes a ride with her little brother when she gets tuckered out. We have no problem with this at all. She does have to deal with the fact that she won't fit the way her brother will, but if she pulls her legs up a bit she's not hanging off the end. It's not the most comfy way to ride, but it's that or she walks. It's her choice. It sounds like your son is getting to that crossroads. He's a tall boy and there is just nothing you can do about that. He's growing out of strollers. So he can deal with being a bit scrunched or he can choose to walk.

I wouldn't buy a pricey stroller for one trip if it were me. There just comes a time when kids need to realize that their total and complete comfort at all times just isn't possible. It's life.

good luck:thumbsup2

I would consider a jogging stroller- schwinn and Instep both have versions in the 159 range, weight limit of 100 lbs and have sun covers

Also, check on a Craigslist type of website for used ones that can hold that kind of size.

That or consignment shops.

Good luck!

I used a cheap umbrella stroller. I think I got it at Walmart and it had a canopy on it - it was under $20. My sons, 5 1/2 and 3 1/2 at the time, alternated being in it. My oldest, who is about 49 pounds and 49 inches long, would never be in it for too long a period, and it held up fine for the week. I just made sure he kept his feet on the rubbery thing between the wheels, in the middle of it so the stroller wouldn't keep stopping.

We use Maclaren. I didn't know that the new models went up to 65lbs. I am very temped to get another one. He is showing no signs of wanting to get out of the stroller (he has some sensory and tone issues- so he tires easily). Definitely go to babies r us to try them out. Some models have deeper seats which are better for bigger kids. But look online for better prices.

Go with the Maclaren Volo. It is a GREAT stroller and right about your $100 price range. We did this 2 years ago also. I was looking for a stroller for our DD7 (at the time). She is a small child, and weighed about 42 pounds at the time. I had tried the cheap umbrella strollers from WalMart and such and you just cant push them with a child that weight. They are very hard to maneuver. I thought about renting, but like you hated to throw away about $80. I went online and purchased the Volo (I got a previous year model for $68) and knew I could use it for our 2005 and 2006 trips. Much better deal money wise and this stroller pushes like a DREAM!! You wont be sorry- it is well worth the money. We used it this past Dec. with DD8(now) and 50 pounds and it still pushes like no one is even in the thing. I just found out I am expecting our 4th baby and I am going to be getting another Maclaren for this baby. The Volo doesnt recline which is fine for an older child, but I will check into the new models that hold up to 65 pounds. Type in Maclaren Volo in your search engine and tons of sites will come up and you can compare prices. If you have a store near you that sells them go try it out. You wont believe how great it is.
