We are headed to WDW this summer. My DD will be 4.5. She hasn't ridden in a stroller since spring 2006 when he twin brothers were born. I've been surprised by how many people on the boards have rented strollers for bigger kids. Do I need a stroller for DD? She did walk all the way through Kings Island last summer.

I would plan on a stroller being needed. a friend of mine took her kid (5y/o)and put her in the stroller. coarse you could give her breaks by putting her on shoulders or taking breaks in general.

My dd will be 5 when we go and I am planning for the stroller for her ,the worse that happens is she walks and I put souvinors in there:thumbsup2 :rolleyes1 .

Renting one maybe another choice as well. I like to take one so that if I am somplace else and they have none I still have mine plus its easier to find rather then 100 that all look the same!

I rented one from A Baby's Best Friend for our upcoming trip in May for DS4.5. We had one at King's Island last summer and it was just nice for him to be able to sit down while we were winding our way through crowds and when he got tired.

We took DS4 and DS2 to Disney in May, 2005 and had a stroller for the younger boy and both ended up walking most of the time. DS4 walked the whole vaca and only complained at the end of the day from the bus stop to the resort. We are going again in Dec. w/ DS7, DS4 and DD2 and again will have a stroller for baby only.

They are kids and there legs work fine.

Could she walk the entire time: Yes, probably.

But will it be much easier if she's in the stroller, especially given the insane crowds and heat: YES!

I was like you before our first trip this past September. My twins had just turned 4, and I figured they were WAY too old for a stroller. They are very high energy and didn't ride in a stroller much even as toddlers. So when we went to WDW we rented just one double stroller for my 2 year old to ride in (got the double "just in case" one of the twins got tired).

Anyway, our twins ended up riding in it just as much as our son. Not because they coudn't handle the walking--it is a lot of walking but not un-doable for a small child--but because it was so much easier to keep track of them in the crowds when they were in the stroller. For me, that was the main bonus of the stroller--and we went during the slow season!! I would for sure get one during the summer. It was just so much easier to throw them all in the stroller and GO when we were ready to move on.

Our next trip is this upcoming September--and we'll be renting a double again--for our kids ages 5,5,3. Now I'm just hoping all 3 will fit in the double again;-)

This is precisely why we still use a stroller for DD! My youngest kids will be DD5.5, DS4 & DS2.5 on our next trip and I'm planning to bring my Mac double and Mac quest for them. They know the rule -- between attractions everyone gets in the stroller. Now, I'm not talking every ride but when we move together from one area to another they all pile in. It's so much easier to keep track of the little ones through the crowds. Could the older two walk -- yea, but why chance it? :confused3

my 4.5 year old rejected strollers from the time he was 2, so we really didn't expect to rent a stroller at wdw. however, he thought they were so cool looking, and I think multiple days at wdw, made him think twice. we ended up going ahead and renting one at mk, ak, and epcot. we didn't need one at mgm, its so small.

DD will be 5.5 when we go to WDW for 7 nights at the end of April. We live in San Antonio and spend alot of time at SeaWorld and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. We just bought a new JEEP stroller for the trip and this summer at the parks. DD LOVES her stroller! I love being able to keep up with her AND our stuff. Our backpack fits over the two handles which makes it easy to find. We will even keep the stroller at the airport so that we can keep her near by while we check in with ME in Orlando. Now DD is very tall for her age (50inches) and is very well behaved. But she knows that the stroller means something fun is going to happen. I do notice some families with older kids in strollers and everyone seems much more relaxed. Have a great trip!

We rented a stroller at WDW when daughter was 4 and we are planning on renting one again when go again soon and she willbe turning 5. Even adults get tired after walking so much , so you can imagine how their little legs feel. Heck there are times I wish I could fit in the stroller too at wdw. lol One thing I recommend though is tie some colorful strings or other things to make yopur stroller standout so people will be less likely to walk off with it while u are on a ride. Last summer someone walked away with our stroller while we were on its a small world. My daughter was already tired and then we had to walk all the way to the front to get another stroller and waste all that time. I will be decorating mine up this time , I have learned my lesson the hard way :)
