I am buying strollers for our October trip to Disney World. Our dds will be 6 mos, 4 (practically 5) and 7. I am planning on two strollers-one for our 6 mos old and one for the 5 and 7 years old to take turns with. I'll also carry a sling for baby so there will be times when the 5 and 7 year olds each use both strollers. Since posters on the board tend to endorse the Macs, I think I'll buy one Volo for the big girls and then an umbrella stroller that reclines for the baby. Would it be best to buy a Mac for the baby or is there another lightweight stroller that would work best for her. If I go with a Mac for her, I don't mind splurging as she will probably use it for the next 5 years. Any suggestions. Also, we will be staying off property in a townhome so will be driving our car to the parks if that would change anyones thought on which strollers to buy. Thanks so much.

I am a huge fan of the Peg. I have a Peg double and a Peg single and they are both AWESOME - super lightweight, nice recline, easy open and fold. We have brought the double Peg to both WDW and the Disney cruise and it was so great. I would honestly recommend getting a double stroller (if that's an option for you) - it is so much easier so push one stroller around than two seperate strollers.

With kids as old as your older two I wouldnt invest in a double stroller at this point. Renting is another thing, but buying a double would be a waste of money to me. The Macs are GREAT!! We have 2 of them- a Volo that I used for DD for our last 2 trips (we bought it soley for that as she was 6 when we got it) and we have just gotten a Mac Quest Mod for our baby due in a few weeks. The Quest has a recline that the Volo does not have. I think you would be good to get a Volo and a Quest. I got our Quest for $129 on www.albeebaby.com
Got the Volo for $68 a couple of years ago.
You wont regret the investment. They are great strollers

I'll second the vote for a Mac Quest...and Albee Baby too. I bought ours from there 2 years ago when the baby was 3 months specifically for a WDW trip. It's great for little ones and bigger kids, the weight limit is 55#, higher than most strollers out there. It also folds up nicely, and is lightweight...I can manage the stroller myself when the baby is in a sling on Disney Transport if needed.

The Maclaren Quest Sports Stroller is my recommendation for the 6 month old, it's about $225 but it will definitely last for years. The Volo would be great for the older kids or you could even just rent at the parks if you don't want to invest in a stroller that wont get a lot of use after Disney. Check out babycenterdotcom for reviews. Maclaren also make a wonderful double but I just don't think that's worth the investment since it will be very rare that you would need it any other time beside Disney. Most five year olds haven't sat in a stroller in a while.

I'm a nanny and we are heading to WDW in October and we have the Maclaren Quest and the Maclaren Techno (double stroller) but we are only bring the Mac Quest (and we will rent a double while in the parks). We have a 2, 4 (almost 5), and 7 year old (who still loves to ride when he can get away with it.) But with 3 adults (me, the mom and dad) and 3 kids, I'm not worried about travelling between the hotels and the parks without a second stroller.

I would buy a Mac for the baby and rent a double for the two older children.
We have a Mac Techno and I love it! It is very lightweight, it reclines and it comes w/ a rain cover. Also, it has those swivel wheels making it VERY easy to navigate, even when pushing w/ one hand.

I have so many different strollers, umberella, jogging, double, some other type of one too. I think that I am going to be using 2 umberella strollers (ds3,dd7) because I want to be able to go on the Railroad around MK, I'm sure that some days I may not even bring the other stroller for dd but as long as I have it for her I'll be happy

before you shell out any $$$, are you sure that your 7 yo will,
a. fit in a stroller
b. be will ing to ride in a stroller (my 7yo would rather die than be pushed in a stroller, but then again, i think I would die pushing him)

I have
a mac triumph, great for older kids, not so hot for youngers
a mac quest..love it PERFECT!
a Peg Perego Pliko P3, even more PERFECT!!

also how about a buggy board or similar?

**and don't forget to bring that sling!!**

I too, am looking for a good stroller for our next Disney vacation in December..
Don't need a double, just one that will hold my almost 5 year old daughter..Looking for one that is lightweight and comfy...

I appreciate any ideas...

I am going to buck the trend here and reccomend the Phil & Ted stroller. We bought ours this spring and love it!! It is the size of a single stroller that you can purchase a sencond seat for. It has 4 different ways you can configure the seats. It turns like a dream. Literaly with one hand with both of my dd in it.

Good luck on your choice!

Thanks everyone for the advice. I went ahead and bought one Volo for the bigger girls to share and the Mod Quest (129.99 at Albee Baby) for our baby. I loved the idea of a double but since I'm not having any more children, I did not think I would get my money's worth. I can't wait for them to arrive so we can try them out. Thanks again.

I wouldn't be wasting money buying a stroller for kids aged nearly 5 and 7.

My daughter is 4 (not 5 till April 2008) and hasn't been in a stroller since she was 2 years old, always wanting to walk and "be a big girl".

checkout craigslist last month I got a 2006 Mac Techno in excellent condition for 155 dollars compared to the brand new price of 350. Also by purchasing from craigslist I didn't have to pay for shipping like I would have on ebay so I saved 35 dollars.

for my soon to be 7 year old I use this umbrella stroller we have used since 2004 and it is great for her. If you have a babiesrus near you they usually carry all the different colors toysrus doesn't really carry all of the colors.

This is the same stroller as the one above on sale and I have seen these at toysrus.

My DD hasnt used a stroller at home since she was 3 or so, but at Disney it is a different story. We bought her the Volo and she used it for 2 years (just turned 7 and just turned 8) and it was much cheaper than renting a stroller for 2 years in a row. I dont think it is a waste of money at all. A great investment is how I look at it. She will be able to use it for the younger one if she chooses or sell it for probably most of what she paid if she decides to get rid of it after the trip. I have a daughter that has always wanted to be a "big girl" too, but at Disney she is more than willing to sit in a stroller rather than be exhausted as we go commando.
Glad the OP was able to get great deals on the strollers she purchased.

My kids were the exact same age as your kids will be.
We brought one stroller that reclined for my 6mo and also a front pack carier for her. We thought the other two could walk. Our DD6mo prefered to be in the carrier the whole time which was good bc DS4 needed the stroller. DS7 was fine walking most of the time and when he needed a break he would stand on the front of the stroller. We had a graco duoglide stroller at home and DS4 was too big for it. Meaning I couldn't steer it while he's in it, he was too heavy. So I would forego the double stroller also. I would get what ever you prefer for the baby and for the older two I would go cheap and buy an umbrella stroller for them to share bc they won't be using it after the trip. They cost as much as you would spend on renting a disney stroller for 1day.

We are going this year w/ a mac for our 14 mth old (lightweight, reclines & has a nice basket underneath) & we are renting a double for our 6 & 4 year old boys.
I don't want the hassle of traveling w/ a big double stroller, but I know there will be alot of times both of them will need a ride. We tend to do long park days & I don't expect those little legs to keep up, I'm lucky that my short legs can keep up w/ my husband.:goodvibes
