Stroller for 5 year old

It's personal but if you feel you want it I would take it. I make no apologies about renting a stroller for my DD even though she will be 8 this trip. We are in the parks for 8 days straight from early morning to late at night. When she's tuckered out she just falls asleep.

A stroller isn't for everyone but if you think your child would use it and it would help you I'd say, Go for it!

We will definitely be bringing a stroller in December. The storage is great and I'm sure DS6 will spend some time it. When we took his brother the first time he was 5 and we didn't have a stroller...I was pretty worn out after basically having him on my shoulders for days 4-6. I won't make that mistake again.

I have to say that I am thrilled to see stroller use being supported, without judgement here! I had noticed a real critical trend for a while. Strollers, like wheelchairs and ECVs, can make a world of difference in guests' ability to enjoy a wonderful vacation.

Roll on!

Like others have said, it varies greatly from family to family and on your touring style.

My son had just turned 5 before we went in 2013. I was on the fence. We didn't use a stroller at home for anything and I certainly didn't want to take one on the flight. So my decision was to wait and see, if I needed one I would rent one and have it delivered to our resort (we were there for 10 days). Well, he surprised us. He didn't whine or complain once, didn't asked to be carried or say he was tired. Now, we were there in October and didn't do any late nights. He's also a peanut, so the two times we did carry him were no big deal (once leaving the parks after fireworks and it was just easier to carry him in the crowd and once he fell asleep on the bus ride back to the resort)

We also always took breaks during the day, we never did open to close. Something else, to consider. Have fun.
This is our plan for this June. My kids will be 5 and 6.5. My older one will be fine. My five year old.... well, I think she will do okay if the stroller is out of sight, out of mind. But, I'm willing to rent one mid trip if she needs it. We plan to tour from rope drop to about 3. Anything after 3PM is bonus. Bedtime is at 7... but we will probably extend to 7:30/8:00 since they'll be sharing a room, so a little tired is good. We are planning shows or TS lunch mid day. We are doing two days on, one day off.

We followed a similar plan in DL this past June at 4 and 5.5. Yes... I know it's smaller, but they were also a year younger. I did actually rent her one on our DCA day and she only sat in it like twice.

Another yes here. DD did not use a stroller anywhere, no matter how much walking, after she hit 12 months old, except for at WDW and DL. At age 5, we thought about leaving the stroller at home for the first time, but decided we would take it and then if we didn't use it, we would just leave it in the room after the first day or so. We used it a whole lot more than we thought we would and were very glad we had it. Even though she was a very high energy kid, her stamina just wasn't quite up to walking from open to close in the parks. I would take it- if you decide you don't need it after the first day- you can leave it in the room-- but chances are you will be glad you have it.

I would take the stroller. Worst case you take it in and park in in one of the stroller parking until later on in the day when you need it. All my kids have loved having it. Not embarrassed at all. When my 2nd child was 7 we didn't take one just for her, but she shared with her 2 younger siblings. There were times I wore our baby or the 4 year old wanted to walk so she still used it then to rest awhile and we got to carry on with our trip. Now our third is going to be 7 this trip and we are trying to decide if we will have the 3 year old and 7 year old share or still take the 7 years olds. Lol

We're not for my 4.5 year old. We didn't use it at all last year, and it was just a pain sitting there in parking and inevitably we'd have to backtrack to pick it up, etc.
