Stroller fan? Breastfeeding in Park?

We are headed to Disney next month. Not sure what the weather will be like, but I have been thinking about purchasing a stroller fan for my soon to be 7 month old. Anyone have one of these and if so, where did you buy it?

Also, my DS is exclusively breastfed. Are there "mother's rooms" in the theme parks where I can go to feed him? If not, does anyone know of a quiet place I can go to nurse him?

Thanks for any suggestions!!!

Each park has an air conditioned nursing room. They are marked on the maps as "Baby Care centers". They have a nice changing room, a play room and nursing rooms. They also have a little area to purchase limited baby supplies.

You will also find lots of quiet places, and many moms nurse on the darker rides. In Nov., we have found the weather very pleasant. Not extremely hot, but there is usually one day where we end up taking my dd into the bathroom and wetting her shirt a little bit. I'm not sure how a stroller fan would work with a 7 mo. If it is too far, then will it be enough to be worth it, and if it is too close, will he be able to reach it? I don't know form personal experience, though. The one thing I would look into getting is some type of carrier to hold him in lines for rides and preferably one that you can nurse in. I prefer the ergo, but some slings have extra fabric to cover up. I was able to nurse my almost 1 yo (at the time) to sleep in the ergo with a cape draped over her (I got it from target) as I was walking back to our hotel. It was pretty nice to be able to just put her right to bed when we got home.

I don't think the fan is necessary, especially when you're going. You will be in and out of places all day, not walking in the sun for hours straight :goodvibes .

As for the breastfeeding, I have nursed three different babies all over Disney World over the past seven years :cheer2: . Each park does have a Nursing Mothers Room in the Baby Care station, which is nice. I found that I didn't want to rush back there every time the baby was hungry. There are a million places to nurse in the parks, resorts, and DTD. Find a bench or couch and go for it :thumbsup2 . I have never even gotten a strange look from someone, and I've never seen more other moms doing it than when I'm there. My only warning is to not nurse at the Monsters Inc. show. They have cameras roving over the audience, and they almost caught me on the big screen nursing on this last trip! The woman just next to us was nursing too:goodvibes .

Have a great trip!

I purchased our stroller fans through One Step Ahead. I think they do a good job, but take extra batteries just in case yours runs low. Secondly, personally I found WDW nursing friendly. The Baby Care centers are great. A couple of times I found it gets loud/busy in there. I never had a problem sitting on a bench and nursing discretely either.

The baby care centers are really nice. We didn't actually make it to them all the often b/c when my child is hungry I have no desire to trek back accross the park to get there, but the few times we went it was nice, quiet, air conditioned (or away from the cold when we went in Dec).

If you are comfortable nip, you shouldn't have any problems at all. My only issue was that all the nice quiet, shaded areas in the parks were for smokers!! I would sit down to nurse my babe and the next thing I knew someone was lighting up.

I second the recommendation for a sling!! We took my ds at 7 mos to DL and I used my mei tai. Having a sling makes things so much easier with a small child. You have your arms free, you can leave them in the carrier while on the rides, you can nurse in it, etc. I now have a Beco, which I LOVE, but I really loved my mei tai when my ds was younger.

It's a small world, is a great ride to nurse on. It's dark, long, and you can't beat the snappy music!! :rotfl:

We've taken nursing children to WDW and never had any problems. The baby centers at the most of the parks are great - MGM leaves a little to be desired. The other places that we found to be very pleasent to nurse in were back seating areas of some of the restaraunts (Tusker House and Flame Tree BBQ in Animal Kingdom jump to mind - private and shady and no smokers). Plus refreshment is close at hand (little outside bar at Tusker House :thumbsup2 )

I wasn't sold on the fans at first. DS3 had to have one when he saw them - the kind with the spray bottle attached. What little boy doesn't like rotating blades and the ability to squirt the innocent and unsuspecting. I was convinced I'd chuck the expensive piece of junk by the end of the day, but it redeemed itself when my DD1 finally konked out while we were waiting for a parade and I could keep a nice steady flow of air on her. Finally, that mythical stroller nap we all hope for but so seldom find.

We've used the One Step Ahead fans on several WDW trips now, and love them. We already sent them down for our trip from 10/13-10/21. Maybe we won't need them, but we'll have them in case. We also got cheap water bottle/sprayers from the Disney Store a few years ago, but those are only in the hands of mom & dad!

As for nursing, I was never comfortable nursing in public, except for at Disney! I nursed at the babycare centers and anywhere really(dark rides, shows, benches). I never had anyone look at me strangely.

I think this will be our first trip with the kids (3 yr & 18months) when I'm not nursing. Kind of sad...

I have a son who will be 6 months old when we go. We are also going next month( november 3-13th) He is also exclusively breastfed. My oldest sons name is Dylan. Neat coincidences.

Our favorite nursing ride is Tomorrowland Transit Authority. If you ask, you can keep on riding, as long as its not busy! :goodvibes Which is rare, even in the summer!

Love the baby care centers. They have nursing rooms with a rocking chair and nice changing tables, high chairs - everything you need.

I found it easy to do at these attractions:
Epcot - Spaceship Earth, Honey I shrunk the audience.
I never to the Dinosaur Energy Ellen ride, but that is probably a good one.

MGM - Little Mermaid

MK - IASW, Mickey's philharmagic, Haunted Mansion, the Peoplemover (I think it is really called Tomorrowland Transit or something like that)

AK - It's tough to be a bug
