Stroller Experts Wanted!!!

We are taking our two DD's to WDW in January and I am at a loss for what to do about a stroller

DD3 (will be 4 in June) has incredible stamina here at home. She rarely naps and is awake from 9am until 11pm or later. She regularly goes out walking with DH and I and the dogs and we do about 2 miles a day. She pushes her little dolly stroller and leads the way. We plan on leaving the parks daily for nap time, but I don't know if she will need a stroller.

DD1 (will be 2 in Sept) will DEFINITELY need a stroller. For her, it's more of a containment issue. She's learned how to run and loves to see how far she can get. She'll also need it for naps as she tends to poop out quickly.

My quandries are: First, do I get a double stroller in case DD3 decides she needs a break? If I do, and she never uses it, I don't really want to be lugging a double stroller around for no reason. (DH asked if they make them in adult sizes... ) Second, I have 3 strollers at home. #1 is a Graco DuoGlider which I have no intention of hauling to the parks. #2 is a Graco ??? that was part of a travel system. It folds pretty easily but it is heavy. #3 is a $10 umbrella stroller from Wal-Mart. Basically, I have no strollers at home that are suitable for use at WDW. I also HAVE 3 strollers already so I'm trying to justify why I have to add to the collection. My strollers outnumber my purses!

All you experts out there.... I am pretty certain I need an umbrella type stroller, probably a single, that reclines most of the way, has a cupholder and basket, and is lightweight. I'm not looking to break the bank on this either since we will only use it for the 1 week trip. I do not like the pictures I've seen of the WDW rentals. I would consider renting one for DD3 if she decided she needed a stroller. Any suggestions?

If only you'd lived closer I'd sell you my Combi Twin! DS has decided he is too old for the stroller... and guess who's stuck carrying him when he's tired?

Anyways, if you are searching for a stroller, Combi is a good way to go if they make singles because with the doubles, both seats recline

OKAY.... you need a "Sit and stand" stroller. IMHO they aren't as bulky as a double stroller...the younger one and be secure in the front, but if your 3yo tires, she can easily just "hop on" the back...Also they are awesome for holding bags/backpacks etc.... if your DD3 isn't using it. Just my opinion...Hope this helps

My daughters were 3 and 1 1/2 on our first trip to the World. We faced this same dilemma. First of all, my husband hated the umbrella stroller. It just didn't work for us, and we didn't have space to put our stuff. My 3 year old did need the stroller a lot. We ended up renting the double stroller from WDW. The strollers weren't bad, but it does get costly.

On our next trip we brought our double stroller from home and it worked pretty well for us. They were 4 1/2 and 3 on that trip. So, my 4 year old still used it quite a bit. Hope this helps!

I was going to recommend a sit and stand stroller - but see it's been listed, so I'll give a "I second the sit and stand stroller" instead.

If I had a second child, I don't think that would work for my son - he just always wants to PUSH the stroller if he's out of it!

As it is, I'm trying to decide what we want to do in October (he'll be 3 right after the trip). My problem is that with umbrella type strollers, I always end up kicking the wheels - so I modify my step and then get a sore back! (and I'm short - not like I have long legs! Don't know what the deal is there! LOL) All we have is the giant travel system stroller and I know I don't want to take that again. Worth it completly when he was 18 months old - but not so sure at almost 3.

You can always just bring your single Graco or the umbrella and if your other DD gets tired, rent a stroller at WDW! That way it's there if you need it, but you don't have to haul excess around!

Get the Joovy Sit and Stand or similar one (not the Fisher Price one though b/c it is horrendously hard to push and turn when 2 kids are in it). I wish my 5 year old could still fit in it but he's really big for a 5 year old and its too hard to push now with him in it. You may even be able to find a used on on ebay or craigslist. Good luck!

The Maclarens are the best strollers, but are pricey, so not worth for only one week of use. Definetly very easy to push and great even for taller people, not the sort where you will kick the tires.

I agree with the sit n stand strollers suggested. A double stroller at the parks will cost about 18 to 20 per day, so much better to bring your own.

Stay away from the Combi strollers, those are impossible to push with a heavier child in them.

I've been looking online at some of the sit and stand strollers. Most of them say that the standing child needs to be less than 40". If that is the case, my super-tall 3 year old won't fit. She is 42" now and growing every day! I like the idea, though. I'm still perusing the various websites...

Stay away from the Combi strollers, those are impossible to push with a heavier child in them.

I have to disagree- I LOVE my Combi so much that I bought the double too! *I have 4 children and have had plenty of strollers through the years and I love my Combi(I have tried the other expensive ones and I still love my combi- soft inside for naps- good recline- easy fold- strap for carrying. Just an all around great double-= and I am pushing a good 50 pounds+ of kids in there. Even my 9 year old gets in sometimes and I push her too! combi combi combi!!

Oh and they sell just a buggy board that attatches to whatever stroller you already have- *those sit and stands look brutal to turn and I have yet to see a child in the stand portion looking comfortable.

I don't know about height limits...good thing to check on before shelling out the cash though! (Good thing your mom mentioned it!)

I started doing a little looking for myself and found this one and was reading the review - it says it has a riding platform - haven't found the price yet, but i bet it's pricey since it's a Peg Perego, but...

This can be used for an older child to stand on and ride on the back of the stroller. We only have one child right now, so I haven't tested it, but I thought this too, was a really nice feature for a stroller in a light-weight category.

Ok, I just got a sit n stand to use at WDW and have been using it a bit, as we walk my two older children to school. My youngest is 18 months (30 lbs, 35 inches tall, my 3yr old is 43'' tall 37 lbs) They have no problem riding, nor do I have a problem pushing them. My 3 year old sits on the bench, and even my 45' tall 5 year old can stand at the same time....which will be great for getting someplace quick.

Also, if you are anywhere near Portage/Kalamazoo or even Grand Rapids Michigan I might be wanting to get rid of my stroller when we get back. I bought it from a friend who used it twice at "parks" and I only paid her $50 fot it.

PM me if you want more info, or even to see a picture of it. It's the Baby Trend brand that Target sells only an older model (2003?) and I think it is a bit more roomier.
