I am so sorry if this has been answered in some other thread. However, I need help deciding. We are taking our 4 yr old dd, and almost 2 yr old ds and my in laws in August. Dh & I can't decide if its best to buy a double side by side stroller, or buy two lightweight umbrella strollers for the trip. My dmil said I would be better off with two singles b/c it would be easier getting around the crowds and lines. We really are not sure which route to go. I have two tall children and a lot of the doubles look so small. I was leaning towards the graco duorider. Totally confused. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks ::MinnieMo

Sounds like you don't usually use strollers for your children. If that's the case, than I wouldn't buy a double stroller just for this trip. I'd buy the two cheap umbrella strollers. Each child has their own space and can't touch each other when needed. And if your group splits up for any reason, the children can split up too if they want. Plus the umbrellas fold down to almost nothing and are very light to carry on busses and other transportation. Another plus about having the strollers is that you can use them in airports up to the plane and that long walk back to the room each day.

Yes, it sounds like it may be alot easier just folding up the two strollers. We do use strollers for the kids, its just that I have the long double stroller where they are facing each other and that is just too big for this trip. We also have two single travel system carriages and those two are a bit bulky for the planes and buses. So that's why we didn't even consider bringing any of those. Thanks :teeth:

If you don't plan on using the double away from disney much, I would go for two singles. We used two singles for our two dd's and it worked our great. It was definately much easier to move in the crowds behind each other at times. Also, we could separate the two of them. I would use two singles.

I've seen people using two single umbrella strollers with a clip holding them together so that one person could push. I'd probably go that route.

My kids are about the same age as yours. We do the 2 umbrella stroller route. We actually have two of these strollers - they're awesome!

Having 2 strollers just makes it so much easier, IMO. You can go your separate ways if need be (potty breaks, etc) and you get more room to carry all the crap that goes along w/ taking 2 toddlers! LOL

I would take the 2 umbrella strollers, there are times when you might want to split up... one person sit for a bit with the sleeping little one, while the others go with the older child to a ride or something.

I think 2 strollers will come in handy

Our girls were 4 and almost 2 when we went in May they are both very tall too- we have a duo gloder at home it is nice but could be hard to turn in a crowd. We rented a double side by side from A Baby's Best Friend. it worked out very well for us. I chose that because of a few reasons- it was good for parades, we got seats early in front and they were sitting by each other, instead of one being behind the other, they could both see in other words- as you'll find people will crowd around so tight during a parade I think it would have been hard for the child in back to see the parade until the float is on top of them. Another reason I liked it was because both seats reclined indvidually with the duo glider only the back reclines and with umbrella neither reclines- this way they could nap when needed and we did not have to return to our DTD hotel for naps, finally it had good storage and a good canopy/ True it was kind of a pain getting it on the shuttle buses but I thought it was worth the $75 for 8 Days. Just my experience and opinion!

The 2 yr old, I would guess definately needs a stroller that reclines. What does your current stroller "inventory" look like?

2 singles--or front/back double....would be easier IMHO. For long days--we take our double (Front/back) so that the girls have a place to sleep when necessary.

I went in May with a 4yo and turning 2yo (on the trip) and we used 2 single strollers with stroller connectors (you can search online for them). It was great because one person could push both when they are connected and then we could split apart when we wanted to go separate ways. Another plus is a double stroller can only fit on certain monorail cars so we had an easier time finding a car to go on. This is the second time we used the connectors and they were great.

How about not buying a stroller and use one of the rentals at Disneyworld. I have three children and we found it much easier to get to the park(including using the monorail) without a cumbersome stroller. Once at the park, then we rented. Also DW has (or at least used to - my kids are much older now.) a policy whereas if you park hop you leave their stroller at the departing park and get a voucher for a new one at the arriving park. It worked for us. I had my kids in strollers until my youngest was 8! Not only did they not get cranky. The strollers acted as storage for all the stuff I used to carry! Have a great trip!

The only problem with renting WDW's strollers is you have to leave them at the park. You can't use them at the resort, to/from transportation, or the airport. I know I wouldn't want to have to carry either of my girls any distance at WDW without one.

I prsonally wouldn't rent one. The cost to rent it for a few days would cost more than some of the umbrella strollers you can buy at WalMart.

IMO, don't buy a Graco DuoGlider for a trip to WDW. :sad2:

I took my DuoGlider while I was there a few weeks ago with my 3 kids. I ditched my stroller (left it in the room) on the 3rd day. After 2 days of lugging on and off of the busses, I decided it wasn't worth it.

I rented a stroller the rest of the days that we were at the parks. i wish i would have just taken our umbrella duoble stoller(side by side Kolcraft) It's smaller and lighter. The rental strollers are awesome, but you can't take them with you to your resort...dh and & I had to carry 3 sleeping kids a few times. Thank goodness for the kindness of "strangers" :) who helped us on and off of the buses.

I am having the same problem. My boys will be 13 months and 2 1/2. My 2 year old is very tall. I have heard that the rentals are very uncomfortable. Buying 2 cheapies at Walmart you get no storage, no sun shade , no recline. Clipping them together I heard stinks and is hard to steer. I am looking into a lightweight umbrella double that is on the cheaper side. Kolcraft makes one but the weight limit is 70 pounds. It cost about 60.00.

We did this too, and I would definitely rent again, but I might be more inclined to rent two single strollers rather than the double. My kids battled a bit over the space in the double. There was a lot of elbowing and "he/she's touching me" when it got hot or they got tired. Having two umbrellas would have given them a bit more space.

I thought about that too, but there was no way we could haul a stroller through the airport as well our carry ons and a car seat, so for us it was worth it. But I would definitley do this before renting one in the park...they were priceless when the kids fell asleep on the bus and had to be pushed back to our room (about as far away from the AKL lobby as you could get).
