I'm a newbie to the whole stroller thing at Disney. I purchased ponchos for the rest of the family, but what do you do when it rains? Do you put a garbage bag over it, only when you store it? Ours does have a "roof" and a very active 16 month old, but I'm not sure if there is anything else to do. Do people use a poncho somehow?

Thanks for the thoughts!

Our McClaren stroller came with a waterproof cover, but it wasn't very easy to use. I found that a poncho worked great. I used hair elastics to secure it around the handles and feet. I suppose a large trash bag would have worked good, too, but I didn't have one of those handy. :)

Our stroller came with a rain cover, but I totally forgot about it and didn't bring it with us. It rained just one day of our trip - heavily! - and the stroller was soaked through before we could even find a place to buy a poncho. It was still a little damp the next day, but eventually dried out. It's great that you're thinking ahead about this- it never even crossed my mind last trip!:confused3
You can buy a rain cover for the stroller ahead of time - or even cheaper, I'm sure a trash bag would work. I would definitely cover the seat when you park it (never know if it will be moved). The ponchos are so big that when your child is wearing one while riding most of the seat will be covered, but you can still use the trash bag to cover the shade.

Buy a cheap shower curtain (clear). That's what I used with clothespins to secure it and it worked perfectly. I actually had it on too well as it started to fog up.

What a great idea! I haven't thought about that before. I definately will get one for our upcoming trip in a couple of weeks! :)

We used a clear poncho from the dollar store for our daughters stroller.

We would fold the hood part over the top of the 'roof' . We also secured it to the sides and tray of the stroller with large metal clips we bought at Staples. We usually took a few ponchos and if they were soak at the end of the night, we just tossed them instead of taking them back to the room to dry.

I also have to say...if you are going to eat at a ts restaurant...cover your stroller before you go in..just in case! We found out the hard way....the rain can come & go in an instant. When you are in the restaurant, you may not know that it is raining outside. A wet stroller is BADDDDDD.

Anytime you leave stroller unattended even if you think it's only going to be 15 mins COVER it!!! Esp in summer to many pop up showers to leave it uncovered an the shower curtain works wonderfully!

I've had great luck finding rain covers on clearance at Burlington Coat Factory. I got two for our Chicco travel system for $1.99 last summer. It's a clear plastic cover with snaps and elastic bands that fit over travel systems. It folds down small and stays put. Our son couldn't figure out how to get it off so he just gave up. I found a double for the stroller we bought a little later for the same price. I just toss it in the diaper bag or in the underneath bag on the stroller to have just in case it rains (which, it probably will at some point). They are currently $9.99 on the website for a single and $12.99 for a double.

What great suggestion!!! I hadn't even thought about covering the stroller

sorry if this is a terribly dumb question-- but if you use the shower curtains, can you cover the stroller with it on while the kids are in it? Or would that be way too hot?

i wouldn't think that would be a good idea. stroller rain covers are designed to provide ventilation and maintain their shape to protect your children without putting them in danger. i don't know if a shower curtain can really be used in the same manner.

I bought two covers last year, one for an umbrella stroller and one for a larger sized stroller. It worked so much better than using ponchos or shower curtains. For one thing, they are ventilated so my daughter was a little cooler and I wasn't worried about her being able to get fresh air. They are very simple to slip on and off. Look at bedbathandbeyond.com. Never found any in stores but they were very easy and affordable to order online. And I definately agree with the others...Cover your stroller anytime you leave it unattended! You never know when that next rain shower will hit in Southern Florida!!!

I've found that a poncho works best for us! Just go cheap and that way, you can throw it out at the end of the day instead of lugging around a wet, dripping mess.

And yes, always cover your stroller if you plan to be gone awhile. Those showers really do pop up unexpectedly!!
