Stroller as wheelchair for sensory issues - rides to skip?

Will be getting a stroller as wheelchair tag for DS who will be 2, and has SPD. He doesn't walk in public (he can physically walk, but just gets freaked out and goes limp), and I think having his shade down and own space in his stroller will help a lot. Carrying him through the lines is quite difficult too, as he is very strong, and is difficult to contain when he goes into "arch" mode.

I know that POTC requires a transfer to a park wheelchair, so am planning on skipping that as I think the park wheelchair will upset him. I'd rather just skip it, and have DH take our older son on it, while the little guy and I do something else or take a rest!

Any other rides like this to avoid?

I've been to Disney so many times before, but never with a stroller as a wheelchair, so have never paid much attention to how the various rides load and unload.

Would love to hear from others who have been there, done that!

You don't have to take him out of his stroller for POTC. We always take ours right up to the loading area. The People Mover is the only ride I can think of where my son had to get out before the loading area & that's just because of the moving ramp.

The only other one that may be problematical is Peter Pan. You load from a moving sidewalk that can not be slowed or stopped. You can probably take the stroller at least as far as the moving sidewalk and carry him the last few feet. Possibly, if you can get him out of the stroller and into the car quickly, you may be able to transfer on the moving walkway and let the CM take the stroller to the exit.

True. When we rode PP we used the wheelchair entrance, left the stroller at the gate, and they put us in the very 1st car. He was only out of the stroller for about 3 or 4 feet.

The stroller-as-wheelchair can go as far as any moving walkway, no need to transfer to a park w/c (that's for ECVs). He will need to transfer from the stroller to the ride vehicle at all rides. Most of the time it's a fairly short distance and as a 2-yr-old you can probably carry him to enter/exit the ride vehicle. You will need to take him out to go up the ramp for the PeopleMover as they don't allow strollers or wheelchairs on that.

As to other rides to avoid...that may depend on his triggers. Try watching some YouTube videos to get an idea of what might bother him.

only rides that can cause problem i can think of are Peter Pan and the people mover. took grandsons stroller as wheelchair right to the boat and it was waiting for us as we unloaded. as pp said transfer to park chair is for ECV's not strollers as wheelchairs or wheelchairs. have a great trip

He can obviously transfer for the rides, and we can carry him as well. I just didn't want to carry him through the entire POTC line, etc.
