If you have a stroller as a wheelchair tag how do buses work to and from parks? My DD can walk, but has low muscle tone, balance and visual issues. I am not worried about being in the parks as much as being in the moving bus. I know sometimes you have to stand. I don't think she could do that (while in motion). I also know if there is standing room only, we could wait for the next bus, but just checking if she could stay in her stroller. Please forgive me for asking this, but just wondering if we need to plan extra time for traveling.

not unless her stroller is rated for transport (most are not) It would be dangerous for her and for others around her if the stroller were to come loose.

Unless her stroller is a medical stroller with approved tie downs, she may not stay in the stroller. You might want to look into purchasing or renting such a stroller.

As others have stated, most strollers -- even special needs strollers -- are NOT designed for tie-down on a moving vehicle. The frames are not sturdy enough and tie-downs can bend or damage the framing. There are special needs strollers which can be used in transport, but you need to purchase one that specifies that.

My DD also would never be able to hold her balance standing on a moving bus. If we find ourselves in the situation of boarding a standing-room-only bus, we just let a few others go ahead of us and wait for the next bus. It's really not that long, just seems it; plus she has the stroller to sit in while waiting.

Enjoy your vacation!

I got a stroller as a wheelchair pass for my DD. She has ataxia with low and high muscle tone, and major balance issues which cause her to fall, A LOT! I was so nervous about our trip. If you have any further questions feel free to ask. I usually got a seat on the bus, or had to hold her because there was no way she could safely stand. She couldn't even safely sit in a seat on the bus with no seatbelts.

Thanks to all your answers. I never even thought of how dangerous a rolling stroller could be on a moving bus!:scared: I am glad I have you guys :teeth:. I think the best thing would be just to wait for the next bus, unless we are having a total meltdown, but that is a whole other story.

If you can swing it into the budget, I'd highly recommend a rental car. You'll always have a seat that way, and driving around is really easy direction wise.

I have heard people say it is Easey to drive around Disney but for me it is not I get lost every time even with a garman and going once a month. I will say I can get lost going straight and do not like to drive But I think this is a good idea if you are not like me and can drive and read street sings at the same time and do not mind traffic ( normily it is just getting out of the parking lot).
