Stroller Advice: Single or Double?

I can't decide if I need a single or double. We have a Maclaren & BJCM and my girls are barely 3 & 6 that would potentially need it. I know the 3yo will need something but I'm not sure about the 6yo. Should I rent a double? Normally, if the 6yo needed a break, she either gets a turn in the stroller or lets the 3yo sit in her lap. If I only take a single, which would be better the Maclaren or BJCM?

I have 2 girks the same ages. I am rentung a double for certain. If I can prevent whining for even part of a day, for the low pruce of $100 a week, sign me up!!!

There's a good chance your 6yo might need a stroller at times on your trip. My 2 older kids have both used strollers at that age, not all day but maybe at the end of the day or after a day or two of heavy touring.

Can you bring both of your strollers so you don't have to rent? On one of our trips when my DD's were 6 and 1 1/2, we brought 2 singles. Most of the time we brought one single around with us, but 3-4 times we brought both and the 6yo used it happily; she needed the break.

I just had to make a similar decision myself. I actually just finished reserving my stroller. I have a 4 year old and 6 year old. We decided that we would rent a single, and then the younger one can walk once in a while if the 6 year old really needs a rest. I figured for the convenience of not having to deal with a double stroller the whole time (line ups, transportation etc) we'd make do with a single.

Now, keep in mind, I'm just going on faith here, having never been to WDW world before

IME, if you have a single, the odds of both kids falling asleep at the farthest end of whatever park you are in rise exponentially! It was worth it to have a double just for the long walk back and especially for keeping track of both kids in the crowds on that walk out.

If you just take the single, I would take the BJCM, it's better able to withstand the weight of both kids if needed. The Maclaren always kind of struck me as an upgraded umbrella stroller.

My middle daughter was 5 when we were at disney. We have a sit and stand that we brought. It is kind of big and heavy but I'm glad we had it. she was in it alot On the other hand my oldest daughter was 4 1/2 when she became a big sister and i don't think she ever rode in a stroller after that ever. it kind of depends on the kid and how much they can walk, how tall they are, etc. If you aren't sure I would get a double if you can.

A few years ago when our kids were 6 & 3 (well, almost 7 & 4), we rented a double. We rented a double the following year as well. I think a double for that age is an extremely good idea.

Oh we rented from magic strollers and kingdom strollers. Both great, go with whatever's cheapest, which the last 2 years has been kingdom strollers. Have fun!

In July, I rented the single City Mini for my nephews ages 5, and 7. I regretted not having the double because there were several times when both boys wanted to ride. The City Mini double isn't much wider, so the extra room is worth it to me.

We just returned from our June trip, and I rented a Citi Mini Double from Orlando Stroller Rental. It was AWESOME for our 2 and 4 year olds. It cost $100 (including insurance), and it was perfect for us. It was easy to fold up and carry when we needed to get on a bus, and the reclining option was nice for impromptu naps in the park. The stroller was waiting for us at the resort, and when we were done, we just returned it to consierge. We'll be using them again.

I forgot to mention I rented through Apple Stroller/Scooter Rental using their free offer (you only pay insurance). I would highly recommend them.

Having pushed both a double and single stroller around on numerous trips --my vote would be for the double. The single made the buses a little easier, but that was more than offset by the flexibility the double provides. If both seats weren't filled with kids then we would use one seat to hold some of the other stuff we carrying to give us a break.

I have done the parks both ways and hands down prefer the double.
The busses are marginally easier with the single stroller. With the double my husband would handle it while I carried the diaper bag on the bus. At the parks only only person has to push and honestly they make you park them all over so with singles you have to now track down 2 strollers with the CMs moving them around.
Some airlines give grief with the doubles but we fly southwest and it hasn't been an issue.
