Stripping the room linens before you leave

I don't think placing wet towels on the bed is a good idea at all. By the time they get to the room to clean it, the mattress could be damp and believe me they are not going to change out the mattress. I think removing the sheets is enough.

People are only putting wet towels on the sheets in the tub right? Not actually on the bed? I'd agree. Moisture in a mattress in that climate... DANGER!

Agreed. I don't leave them on the bed. I strip the bed and put them on the bathroom floor. I wouldn't leave dirty laundry on the bed, wet or not
I do not put them on the bed, that would be destructive, I put them on the sheets and stuff in the tub.

Although we've never stripped the beds on check-out day before, we will now. Not changing pillowcases? Yech!

Ah, now I see. Thanks, see how easy it is to misunderstand what one means. We usually just pile the sheets on the bed and towels in the tub.

When I read your title, my thought was, why should I? Isn't that service I pay for? And then I read the responses. . .

Alright, y'all convinced me, I'll start stripping the beds! I'm a "pay it forward" kinda gal, so it makes total sense to me. (And for the record, we do always leave the sofa bed open, if we use it.)

Me too - I'm converted now too. I always did the towels and made sure the sofa bed was pulled out, but never thought about actually taking the sheets off.

Thank You so much, we are in. New last morning routine, strip bed and put damp towels on top of linen pile. Also will be bringing our own pillow cases from now on. :laundy:

Just read an interesting article about the 5 dirtiest things in a hotel room. I never realized that they skip the pillowcases. Yuk. This led me to find out if others do as my DH and I do, strip all the linens off all the beds and put in the tub before leaving.

I do this so that they have to put on a clean spread, blankets, sheets and pillowcases. Another big one is the mattress pad, who wants to sleep on someone used mattress pad? We have also been know to throw the damp towels on last so they have to remove and wash all the bedding. This way the next guest is at least getting clean linens throughout their room.

Are we the only ones who do this?

thanks
Judy

I can't speak for Disney, but when I was in college (early '90s) I worked in housekeeping for a resort level hotel, and we always changed the pillowcases. However, even if the blanket and bedspread were stripped off the bed, they were reused. They had to actually have something spilled on them (causing a stain), or have been ripped in some way to be changed. Rarely did we remove one for wear and tear.

The original post said they read an article (no link provided) that "hotels" don't change pillowcases. No evidence that Disney does not change them. I think you could tell by looking at them if they were used.

When we came back from our June trip at BCV, I posted about our room. I noted in this post the pillowcase in our bedroom having a small amount of blood on it as well as several other items related to the then not-delayed refrub.....smjj
