My friend told me that she heard the CM's rejected the new contract and voted to strike. Any idea when this will happen?

I just read that there is almost no chance of a strike in the near future. It seems that not everyone belongs to the unions although by Florida law they are "covered" by the unions (?).
Anyway, only a small number voted and although the "NO" vote won it was by a small minority in comparison to the numbers of people involved. Both sides will continue to negotiate and someone mentioned a federal mediator might be called in.
Don't worry about any strikes for a long time. That is the bottom line from the article I read in the Orlando Sentinel today.

See, I knew I could get info here. I called Disney and they had no information. Thanks for putting my mind at ease.

Extremely coincidental I guess:

We heard about the possibility of a strike on the day we arrived last week. Nothing more until we got back from the parks on Friday pm and our room had not been cleaned! We called and they sent 3 people up to fix it right away. Read in my home paper on Sunday that the strike issue had been resolved. The scary part is that it would have involved resort and park personnel. What if, huh?

Legally, the unions cannot strike while they are still covered by a contract. Even during all the negotiations, the contract has been extended to cover everyone while they're hammering out a deal. So ... unless the talks break down to such an extent that either or both sides won't even extend the current contract to continue talking, there can't be a strike.

Your situation, jmclester, was indeed a coincidence. Probably just simple human error -- someone marking down that the room had been cleaned when it hadn't been.
