I know if I have to ask, it's probably frowned upon, but here goes!

We will be getting free dining from Nov 24 to Dec 2 at Caribbean Beach. (2 adults and my "9" year old son). I paid as 3 adults since my son turns 10 one day after we arrive. Disney allows him to be treated as a 9 yo for his entire trip (if I remember correctly) but we wanted the option for him to order off the regular menu if he wanted to. IF he wanted to order a child's item at a table service restaurant 3 times, and pay out of pocket for these 3 meals, (remember, he was 9 when we arrived) could we then squeeze in an extra table service restaurant?

It's wordy, I know. Thanks for your input.

Would those three kids meals be paid OOP? Then, that would be OK. Since you wouldn't be using the DDP to pay for it, those DDP plan credits are still considered unspent. Make sense?

Doesn't make any difference what age he is when you checked in, if you registered him as 10 and are paying for an adult plan (actually just adult tickets since you're on a free dining package). His credits will be adult credits. So yes, you can pay OOP for three of his meals and use those credits for an extra meal for the three of you, as anyone on your reservation can use any of the credits assigned to it at any time.

I don't really know, since I haven't done it, but this thought occurred to me b/c we're doing the same thing with our 9yo. I'm just wondering that you may come into an issue if you try to buy a kids meal and the CM sees that you have 3 adults on your KTTW card instead of 2 adults, 1 kid. anyway, just something to think about.

We are going to be doing exactly this!

I upgraded my 7yr olds to the adult plan as my 9yr olds 10th Bday is the day we fly and I know they will fight over the fact they get the crumby kids selection! But theres a few places that they actually really like the kids meals and so we will pay OOP for them meals then we will use the credits for Signature meals or extra meals so we can do more TS :thumbsup2

Nope, just tell the server you want to pay for the kids meal OOP instead of on the plan.

They don't have any way of knowing that the kid sitting with you is also the third adult listed on the key card. Just tell the server you would like to pay for your meals with dining credits and use another method of payment for the child's meal.

That is what we plan to do with any credits left from my 10 YO DGD's plan. If she wants something off of the children's selections rather that the adult menu we will pay OOP. We are over on our dining credits and will be paying OOP for some meals as it is so if we can use a credit or two to offset that expense it will be nice. She rarely orders off of the adult menu when we dine out now but is always offered that option. Who knows what she will be in the mood for once we are in Disney but DD is already checking the menus in order to have an idea how much OOP to plan on.
