Stressful.... Need help!!!!! What if I need to change my trip plan?

We will land on Monday afternoon in Orlando. We are very stressful right now about the trip. It is supposed to be a fun and exciting trip we are both looking forward to. Because of Ivan, we don't know if it's even safe to land on Monday. Even though if it is safe to land there, not sure if we will enjoy there because too much rain and too windy. It may end up in the hotel all day!

We are thinking to push out a few days but we've found changing the flight is very expensive. However, do you think it's worth to change the flight to avoid Ivan (the worst case if it does hit. Of coz I don't want his be there at all!!)?? It's double the price I got the tickets. Any other suggestions you may have can help??

I think I'd hang loose until later tomorrow. The Tropical Prediction Center has moved the predicted path a little bit west with each forecast so by noon tomorrow you'll have a MUCH better idea of what's going to happen in Central Florida. Check the Weather Channel tomorrow afternoon.

However, if it were me, I'd grab a couple of ponchos to put in my backpack and head out. Where are you staying? If you're going to WDW, remember that lots of the rides/shows/attractions are inside so rain only affects you between places and you can have lots of fun "running through the rain". It won't be cold so it probably won't be that bad.

If it costs so much to change the tickets, I would just get on that plane on Monday and plan on having an adventure.

Also...if Ivan becomes a threat and they need to modify flights into an airport chances are you will be able to change your flight and it won't cost you anything....just hang in there and see what happens for another day or so.

mmouse37, yes, I checked w/ the airline and they said they wouldn't charge extra if they canceledhe flight. However, we must rebook within their time frame.

CM_Mom, WDW doesn't provide ponchos but do they sell any? Maybe I should stop by Walmart and get them.

We just changed our flight today from a Tuesday to Sunday round trip to Wednesday to Monday through US Air at no charge. The last I checked the web site, they were doing this for most flights in and out of Florida from 9/9 through 9/14.

From what I remember, most airlines offered this for Frances. Now we just pray we made the right decision. Watching and waiting.....

About the ponchos, yes they sell them at WDW but you can probably get them cheaper at WalMart. Better still, if you buy them at WalMart and take them with you, you probably won't need them - you know how that goes...the stuff you're prepared for never happens!

SNicksed, sounds like US Airway is more flexible to the customers. I am taking SWA. I called them yesterday and today but they said they were still keeping the schedule and asked me to call tomorrow. I wish they could make a decision like US Airway and then I could rearrange everything quickly.
