I've read about this soup on the boards. So, I had to try it. There were eight of us eating there on August 15. Two of the people with me were my sisters. I raved to one of them about this soup. She saw they had it, so we tried it. She tried it and said it reminder her of something we've had before. I tasted it and said, "It reminds me of Mom's jello mold." We asked my other sister and she could not put her finger on it as quickly as we did. The jello mold is a classic for Christmas at my Mom's house. The jello mold is made with starwberries, strawberry jello and cool whip.

Too funny... I tried it for the first time last week...DD said it tasted like her grandmother's jello. I couldn't see how it would but when you said jello mold ..... yup that is it!!!:lmao:

Does anyone know if it's the same strawberry soup that they serve on DCL? If it is, I want some. That stuff is delicious. I happen to enjoy the jello mold, so maybe this would be a great thing for me. lol.

It reminds me of the strawberry juice mixed with the whipped cream after you've eaten the rest of the strawberry shortcake.

Below is the original recipe for SS. The current recipe has yogurt in it.

DISNEY'S GRAND FLORIDIAN BEACH RESORT

STRAWBERRY SOUP

16 oz Strawberries (frozen variety, thawed with juice and pureed)
16 oz Sour Cream
1 Tbls Lemon Juice (frozen variety, reconstituted, not concentrated)
2 Tbls Vanilla Extract
3 oz Sifted Powdered Sugar (by cup measure)
1 Tbls Grenadine Syrup
2 oz Half-and-Half

METHOD OF PREPARATION:

Mix strawberries and sour cream, beat slowly until well mixed. While mixing, add grenadine, lemon juice, vanilla extract and sugar until a smooth consistency. Add half-and-half and mix for five seconds. Chill, shake well before serving. Fresh strawberry halves may be added as a garnish.

Mmmmm--can't wait to try this! We'll be there right before MNSSHP on the 14th.

My Disney cookbook recipe is a little different, but either way love the soup.

That's what I was thinking. Strawberry shortcake with just a very small amount of cake.

I tried it the last time we were there since everyone raved about it. It tasted like pureed frozen strawberries...which it was but with a few extra things in it that I couldn't taste. it really wasn't good, not that it was bad but nothing to rave about and not a good cold soup.

I'd like to know this as well. I LOVED the strawberry soup served on DCL, but when I tried the soup at Park Faire, it tasted different to me. I thought it was just me or an off day, but I enjoyed the DCL version a lot better.
