Strategy to get AKL value studio

Is there some sort of strategy to getting a value studio? Im an owner at AKL and its gone before I even get a chance. Im trying to book at the 11 month mark.

I was practicing getting a value studio for a later reservation and ended up actually getting it weeks before I actually needed it, so I just walked it. That started as a mid-Jan reservation and ended as an early March. It was way easier for me to get a late August 1-bedroom value room, and I think I actually got that at 8 months? I also suggest waitlisting each day 11 months out (assuming you didn’t get it) because I’ve heard on these boards they will fill as walkers drop a day.

As you have learned, VERY hard to get.
It may take you 10 months before you are successful.

Yes, but I was suggesting that if they want a Sunday to Saturday reservation, and they miss Sunday, to waitlist Sunday and try again for Monday to Saturday. Assuming Sunday drops with a walked reservation, it should fill within 24-48 hours right? I know it’s done by DVC hand….

If you are looking for one night at a time, then the waitlist at 11 months may help. I had success once with some akv transfer points like that.

tomorrow morning at 7:58, set up your search. Select your dates (1/18/24 - whatever), your resort and room size. Do not hit search until EXACTLY 8:00, use another device with a master clock if you can. Be prepared to be quick if the room is available, don't add anyone other than yourself, you can fix that later.

And since there are only 8 dedicated and 10 lock off value studios it is 100% possible for them to all be booked in the date you are seeking with no check outs occurring on that day.

It's become more challenging as the years have passed. There was a time where we booked values several trips in a row and multiple studios (3 one year). After that, it was nearly impossible. We got lucky where a one bedroom value opened up at around 9 or 10 months out.

If we don't get one right at 11 months, we rarely keep checking and just go with another category.

none both days i tried I hit the search button at exactly 8 and i picked the room and it said I had to refresh. then when i refresh it takes me back to an old search i did. Idk if its my browser or not but im going to use a different browser tomorrow.
