Strategy for reservations - room only or "package" ?

So I reserved a room and now need to add tickets. Ideally I want 9 day tickets but Undercover Tourist only seems to have 8 day or 10 day options.

This means I can either add a 9 day ticket from Disney, or just get an 8 day ticket from UT.

My question is: does adding tickets from Disney make it a "package"? And are there any downsides to making it a package? (eg any implications for cancellation/refunds?)

Thanks!

You can purchase tickets directly from Disney without creating a "package" -- if you have any kind of room-only discount, that would be required to preserve the discount.

A room-only reservation only requires a deposit (first night?) with balance due at check-in, and cancellation penalties don't kick-in until about 5 days before arrival. A package reservation requires full payment 45 days prior to arrival, with cancellation penalties after that point.

Another option is to get the shorter length ticket from UT and then add an extra day after you arrive at WDW to get your 9 days.

Enjoy your vacation!

Thanks very much! Good to know that adding tickets won't make it a package

And thanks for the reminder that I can always upgrade the UT 8day - I did this last time, but this time around I was hesitant because I would lose the privilege of advance FP+ signup for the added day. The FP+ has definitely added another wrinkle to my planning this time around (and I suspect the FP+ program will continue to change between now and when I visit in August...)

Thanks again!
